Bridgerton’s leading man Luke Newton has confessed what item he was under fire for swiping on the set of the legendary show.
It’s the news no one was expecting: Bridgerton’s Luke Newton sneakily nabbed a ring from the set of the show. In a new interview on ITV’s Lorraine, he was quizzed on whether he’d stashed a secret keepsake, and awkwardly admitted: “Well, I tried!”
He’d had his eye on a precious ring that his character Colin had been wearing during the show – but was swiftly set straight on what he was allowed to take. “I got a message immediately saying, ‘Where’s the ring? We lost the ring!'” He confessed shamefacedly.
“I guess for the future of the show they need to keep [the props],” Luke went on to explain. Despite not being able to keep a tangible physical memory of the filming sessions, his performances in season three have been made eternal, thanks to Netflix.
This time around, viewers will finally see the romance between Colin and Nicola Coughlan’s character Penelope Featherington finally blossom, as he tries to find her a wife. Although he’s helping her in the matchmaking process, it’s clear that Penelope has a crush on him instead – and the storyline is now set to develop, much to the delight of the romantics out there who’ve been obsessing over the show.
Teasing the future for the pair, Luke revealed elsewhere on the Lorraine show that he’d had a “wild experience abroad” and totally changed his “fashion and look” before returning ready for a new adventure on the show. “I think the support for Colin and [Penelope] as a couple is so overwhelming,” he mused.

“We’ve really felt that warmth from fans. We can’t wait to share this big secret that we’ve had to keep for a long time.”
However, he admitted that the existing friendship between himself and Nicola added “complications” to the romantic scenes they’ve shared.
Meanwhile, Strictly star Will Mellor also recently had his say on the romance show, branding it “Downton with d**ks!”
Referring to the sexual liberation that Nicola felt the show portrayed females as enjoying, despite the oppressive 1800s era in which the drama was set, he joked: “My wife watched it… and every time I walked in the room, someone was s******g!”

Will’s link with the show is Kathryn Drysdale, who plays dressmaker Genevieve, as the pair once worked together on Britain’s longest-running sitcom, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
Talking on an unearthed episode of the Two Pints with Will and Ralf podcast, which saw the pair reunite following the folding of the show in 2011, he congratulated her on the show’s “humongous success”.

“I think the reason for its success is most of the world was in lockdown [when the show started] and we were just craving a bit of colour, a bit of joy,” she suggested.
As he and Ralf Little praised her for looking every inch the retro “fashionista”, she proudly added: “Every costume was made from scratch, which you don’t normally get with period dramas!”
