Fans online are calling it one of the most disturbing horror experiences on the platform, not because of jump scares — but because of the haunting idea at the center of the film that lingers long after it ends.

Netflix fans shouldn’t miss out on this atmospheric thriller now streaming.

Subscribers are being urged to watch a recent gripping horror movie that flew under the radar in 2024 and is now streaming on Netflix in the UK.

The recently released supernatural thriller was sadly not a box office smash but a growing cult following is convinced it’s one of the best films in its genre of the 2020s.

Directed by Alexandre Aja (Crawl), Halle Berry stars in Never Let Go, portraying a mother of two young sons living in a secluded woodland cabin with no sign of any other human life.

‘Momma’ is convinced that a great evil has taken over the world, leaving their tight-knit family as the only survivors. To protect themselves from this mysterious entity, the trio tether themselves to ropes when they venture outside to forage for food.

However, the twins’ mother’s disturbing vision of reality starts to crumble when they begin to explore the woods on their own, building to a suspenseful conclusion that has left fans intrigued and devastated.

The film has just been added to Netflix today (Tuesday, 14th April) and is a must-see for horror enthusiasts looking for their next helping of existential dread. Despite proving divisive with just 57 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, many fans have declared it a brilliant watch.

One IMDb user’s rave review of Never Let Go described it as “beautiful and devastating”, adding: “The reviews for this movie saying that it is familiar are absolutely insane. This movie was completely and absolutely devastating.

“There are aspects that make it terrifying because it makes the viewer question what they believe throughout. It was beautifully put together and well-made. You think that you have it figured it out, but you really haven’t, not to its core. It was captivating the whole time.”

Someone else admitted it was “more frightening than expected” and “I wasn’t quite prepared for it to go as deep as it did into the depths of despair”.

Another viewer fought back against the negative reviews, writing: “Why the hate? Best movie I’ve seen in a while!

“Really interesting movie that had me flip-flopping back and forth between the two big possibilities of what was going on with it the whole time. It’s intense, scary, and sad. I’m super surprised that so many people are trashing it.

“Makes me wonder how they weren’t entertained! Great acting, cool premise, well shot. It is a day later and I am still thinking about it.”

They also claimed Never Let Go is “poised perfectly for a sequel”, though, after a middling reception, chances of a follow-up might be slim.

Even so, there’s still a chance if this underappreciated horror gem picks up a surge of fans on streaming, so make sure you’re ahead of the curve this week.
