Hannah Harper announces ‘intimate’ tour after ‘American Idol’ win
Amid the whirlwind of her “American Idol” win, Hannah Harper is gearing up to hit the road.
“Almost every weekend until September, October, is booked fully,” Harper, 25, tells USA TODAY an hour after star-shaped confetti rained around her to celebrate her win on May 11.
“This was in the works prior to coming to ‘Idol,’ but it’s mainly smaller, intimate settings, theaters, festivals and stuff like that,” she continues. “I’m excited about that, so if people want to see me down the road, I’d love to hug their necks.”
But first, she says, she needs a much-needed rest “for, like, two weeks.”
The Willow Springs, Missouri, singer – a mom to three who credits her husband for having “sacrificed his entire life” so she could compete on “Idol” – came out of the gate strong during the Season 24 auditions with a song about postpartum depression, “String Cheese.” The performance garnered millions of views on social media and, ultimately, inspired the name of Harper’s first tour. The String Cheese Tour kicks off June 2.
“Knowing that I could connect with other women who were feeling the same as me – women and men, really – that meant everything to me,” she says. “And that I had the opportunity to share my ministry, basically, and my relationship with the Lord, all of those things are precious to me. So every step of the way has been awesome.”
