Netflix has dropped the first official teaser for its upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the streaming service revealed a look at the highly anticipated six-part limited series, which is set to premiere in the fall. The sneak peek shows Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, who sits on a rooftop daydreaming of her love story with Jack Lowden’s Mr. Darcy as she hears him approaching on his horse.

“In a year rife with regency drama for loyal fans, Pride and Prejudice will join the yearn-aissance in the Autumn to faithfully bring Jane Austen’s iconic story back to life for audiences that cherish it, whilst inspiring a new generation to fall in love with it for the first time,” reads the official press release.

Per Tudum, the series will be a period-faithful adaptation and closely follow the original text of Austen’s novel, which was released anonymously in 1813 and tells the complex love story between Elizabeth Bennet, the daughter of a country gentleman, and Mr. Darcy, a rich aristocratic landowner.

While their opposing lifestyles and clashing places in society lead them to judge one another at first, they evolve throughout the story, overcoming their preconceived notions and (spoiler alert!) falling in love.

According to Jane Austen’s House, over 20 million copies of the original novel have been sold since it was released over 200 years ago.

Dolly Alderton, who is known for her book Everything I Know About Love, serves as writer and executive producer, alongside Heartstopper’s Euros Lyn as director. Corrin is also an executive producer as they take on their leading role.

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton told Tudum in February. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”

“With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast,” she continued, “I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”

In addition to Corrin and Lowden, the cast features Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley,  Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet and Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet.

The new show joins a lineup of dozens of other movies and series that have been adapted from Austen’s famed novel, including the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

Pride and Prejudice will be available to stream on Netflix this fall.
