Everything we know about Netflix’s Nemesis season 2

It’s only been a week since Nemesis entered our lives and, already, it’s taken over the world. Everyone’s watching it – or, at least the 7.1 million people who have made it the third most-watched show on Netflix are. And everyone’s talking about it. The main thing you’re probably wondering if you’ve already devoured all eight episodes: when will Nemesis season 2 be released?

A high-octane, high-drama take on the classic cop thriller format, the show’s popularity is understandable. Although it follows familiar tropes – you know, troubled police officer tormented by a mastermind criminal he’s spent years trying to take down – Nemesis makes the format feel fun again.

Part of that is thanks to its creator, Courtney A Kemp, the mind behind the addictive crime thriller Power. But it’s also down to its killer cast, which includes faces you might recognise from Abbott Elementary (Matthew Law), Insecure (Y’lan Noel) and another legendary cop drama The Wire (Michael Potts, Domenick Lombardozzi and Chris Bauer). Translation: it’s TV gold, packaging up the very best elements of crime dramas into one slick package.

But back to the question you really want an answer to. When will a new series of Nemesis grace our screens again? Don’t hold your breath too long. There might be a bit of a wait…

Is there going to be a season 2 of Nemesis?

Bad news, folks. At the time of writing, there’s been no confirmation that the series will be renewed. But keep in mind, Nemesis has only been out for just over a week, which means all hope is not lost. Studios often take a little longer to recommission news seasons of our favourite shows, so there’s still a pretty solid chance that we’ll get to see the story continue.

Besides, Netflix isn’t one to throwaway hot property like this. Currently the number one show in eleven countries, Nemesis is undoubtedly one of the streaming platform’s most popular shows of 2026 – and you can be fairly certain that they won’t want to cut that success short. The show’s co-creator, Tani Marole, has already confirmed that they “have an arc in mind” for season two. The balls in the studio execs’ court as to whether they’ll be able to bring it to life on screen.

When will season 2 of Nemesis be released?

Unfortunately, without a confirmed renewal, there’s really no way to predict when a new series will be released and, these days, TV shows can go years between releasing new seasons – just look at how long it took us to get final seasons for Euphoria and Stranger Things. But let’s stay optimistic and take a pragmatic view. If we happened to be in charge of Netflix, we’d be fast-tracking season two of Nemesis to capitalise on momentum and give the fans what they want. Let’s hope that great minds think alike…

What is Nemesis about?

What’s that? You’re not one of the millions of people who binged the whole show within a week? No worries, we can catch you up. The main names to know are Isaiah (Law) and Coltrane (Noel), the titular nemeses who keep the plot moving forward. Isaiah is the goodie (AKA an LAPD lieutenant) and Coltrane is the baddie (ruthless kingpin), and the pair are embroiled in longstanding a cat-and-mouse chase that unravels over a series of high-stakes heists.

But of course, it’s not that straightforward. Coltrane may clearly be the orchestrator of a criminal underworld to Isaiah, but to everyone else, he’s an upstanding businessman in the local community. Super annoying for Isaiah. Even more so because he doesn’t have enough evidence to pin crimes on Coltrane without losing his credibility. Oh, and did we mention that Isaiah’s dad also happens to be a locked-up gangster? With one hell of a psychological burden to contend with, there’s little wonder his detective work spirals into obsession…

What will happen in Nemesis season 2?

Again, this is purely speculation. The only people who have any real idea about what will happen in a new series are the show’s creators. But given, the way the first episodes of Nemesis played out, we can paint a vague picture of how the story might continue – look away now if you’re avoiding spoilers.

Over the series, we saw both Isaiah and Coltrane’s worlds fall apart as they became increasingly obsessed with gaining the upper hand. But at the last minute, Isaiah willingly lets Coltrane get away so that he can instead help his son. Coltrane’s parting words? “You were never going to win.”

So, what’s next? Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kemp teased even more turmoil for Isaiah. “I think we have made it pretty clear that there are some more consequences coming for [Isaiah],” she said. “And I think we have definitely ended the season where Coltrane’s gonna have to go find his wife. And that’s pretty much all I can say.” Consider our interest piqued.

This also seems to be a fairly explicit hint that we will be getting a second season. In fact, Kemp also revealed that the ending was written specifically to set Nemesis up for more drama – even against Netflix wishes. “Netflix asked us to wrap it in a place where you wouldn’t need a second season, and I was like, ‘Bet, we’re not doing that,’” she said. Praise be to the telly gods for blessing us with this diva.
