Investigators are continuing to piece together what led to a deadly school bus crash in Carroll County that killed two students and injured several others during a field trip last week.
According to the most recent update from the Tennessee Highway Patrol on March 30, 29 people were on board the Clarksville-Montgomery County school bus at the time of the crash, including 24 students, four adults, and the driver.
THP investigators also revealed the identity of the CMCS School bus driver as Sabrina R. Ducksworth, who was driving a 2024 Blue Bird School Bus.
The crash happened on Friday along Highway 70 near Cedar Grove and involved the school bus, a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

In dashcam footage that FOX 17 News obtained from driver Xaviel Lugo, the school bus is seen traveling down the highway before slightly veering over the double yellow line, entering the opposite lane.

Shortly after veering into the wrong side of the roadway, the school bus collided with the TDOT truck, causing the truck to catch fire and continue traveling forward on the road while the bus drove off the road and crashed into a tree.
The blue Chevrolet, traveling the same direction as the TDOT truck but several car lengths behind it, was swiped by the bus and sustained front-end damage. The driver was able to exit the car.

Authorities confirmed two students died as a result of the crash. Multiple others remain hospitalized.
Officials say nine medical helicopters were called to the scene, with seven transporting patients to trauma centers in Memphis and Nashville. Others were taken by ground ambulance to nearby hospitals.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Critical Incident Response Team, along with its Pupil Transportation Division, is leading the ongoing investigation.
Officials say crews are working to reconstruct the crash using witness statements and physical and digital evidence.
Support services remain in place for students, families, and staff impacted by the crash. The highway patrol says chaplains and peer support teams continue to assist the community as it copes with the tragedy.
