Heartbreaking update on Hailey Buzbee
Teen believed to be deceased; suspect in custody
Authorities say the investigation began on January 6 after reports came in that Hailey had left home overnight and never returned.
Detectives quickly identified an unknown vehicle seen in the neighborhood during the night she disappeared. Using technology and surveillance tools, investigators tracked the vehicle to Columbus, Ohio resident Tyler Thomas, who was later named a suspect.
Thomas admitted he picked Hailey up but initially told deputies he dropped her off along a roadside in western Ohio. That story didn’t hold up. Investigators determined his account was false.

Search warrants were executed at both his home and his vehicle. Evidence later showed Hailey had been inside Thomas’ residence in Columbus and may have also been taken to a short-term rental property in Hocking County, Ohio.
Law enforcement then served a warrant at the rental location.
Since then, an extensive search effort has been underway, with drones, K-9 units, and ground teams combing wooded and rural areas in hopes of finding her.

Their investigation has led them to believe she is deceased. This is unconfirmed, but a source tells me there were images found on a cellphone.
Thomas is currently in custody in Ohio and facing charges connected to the case. At this time, he has not been charged with murder.
The investigation remains active.
Please keep Hailey’s family and loved ones in your thoughts as they wait for answers.
