Lorraine Kelly shared an update on Monday as she recovered following surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. The ITV host revealed news of the procedure in a video from her hospital bed two weeks ago. The 65-year-old reassured concerned fans that she was recovering well as she shared a sweet snap alongside her granddaughter Billie on Instagram. Lorraine underwent the procedure for “purely preventative” reasons but it still came as a worry to her followers who have continued to give her their well wishes.
The TV host typed: “Thanks so much for all your get well wishes. Billie providing the medicine ever with lots of cuddles for her granny. Hopefully back to work on Monday. I’ve missed you.” Lorraine was absent from her show on Monday, May 12, as Andi Peters was forced to step in when Ranvir Singh dramatically pulled out at the last minute to undergo emergency surgery for a burst appendix.

Lorraine’s well-wishers shared hundreds of sweet comments. One wrote, “Billie looks so much like Rosie there! Your smile says it all.” Another replied, “I love this picture … babies are the best medicine ever … take care, my friend.” A third remarked, “Lovely photo, and glad Billie is cheering you up.”
The operation Lorraine had is known medically as a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, which is often done to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
On May 3, she told fans: “Just wanted to let you know I’m having a wee procedure today. I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out. It’s purely preventative. It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible. I’m being very well looked after, and I’ll obviously see you really soon, and I’m gonna be totally fine.”
Lorraine is currently residing in her lovely home in Buckinghamshire, where she is receiving attentive care from her husband, Steve Smith, and their daughter, Rosie. The family’s impressive £2 million residence features a stunning lounge TV room, characterised by its high ceilings and beautiful wooden beams.
Seven years ago, Lorraine relocated from Scotland to the English countryside. The lounge boasts high ceilings and features elevated windows and doors that open into the garden, allowing ample natural light to fill the space.
The broadcasting legend has spent several years working in the capital, frequently travelling to and from London. Ultimately, the family opted for a more permanent residence near the city, choosing a charming home in Buckinghamshire as their base.
