The team behind the breakout British drama is reportedly in talks to continue the series.

If you haven’t watched Netflix’s new limited series, Adolescence, it is well worth four hours of your time. The British drama not only added to an essential conversation about the struggles of young men today—which, as the series shows, can turn deadly—but it takes place in real time, with each episode shot in a single take.

Adolescence was originally envisioned as a limited series, but it increasingly looks like it may persevere as an anthology. On Wednesday morning, Deadline reported that Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, is in talks with Adolescence director Philip Barantini about continuing the series. Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner referred to it as the “next iteration” of the show, adding that current discussions revolve around how to “widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.” Reportedly, the goal to reunite Barantini with Adolescence co-creator and star Stephen Graham, as well as its writer, Jack Thorne.

So far, we can safely say that Graham won’t hesitate to bring us more Adolescence. “I don’t think I could say anything, but I like that sentence of ‘like an anthology series,’ ” Graham told IGN in March. “Let’s just say, ‘Mm-hmm!’ The possibilities of that are—yes, there are possibilities of that.”

The idea of Adolescence season 2 revisiting Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) later in his life is compelling, sure. But given the creative team’s comments so far, it’s likelier that Adolescence will return as an anthology series. There are, of course, a myriad of challengers facing young people today—cyberbullying, substance abuse, and mental health issues—which Adolescence could explore in its next run of episodes.
