Strictly Come Dancing fans took to social media to point out the ‘exact moment’ Tess Daly ‘messed up’ during the BBC programme’s annual Blackpool special.

Saturday night (November 22) marked Tess and her co-presenter Claudia Winkeman’s final time presenting from the Tower Ballroom. It was announced earlier in the year that they will be leaving Strictly this year.

The popular duo’s final time stepping onto the ballroom will arrive on Christmas Day for the annual festive special, filmed just days after the 2025 final on Saturday, December 20. The BBC are yet to announce who their replacements will be.

Blackpool proved to be even more hectic than usual, with the presenters confirming minutes into the episode that La Voix was pulling out of the programme. The drag queen had been performing with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and was previously said to have been given a bye through Blackpool.

“Now, as you may have heard La Voix sustained an injury meaning she can’t dance in Blackpool tonight. Following further advice from our medical team, we can now confirm very sadly that she has had to withdraw from the competition,” Tess said.

Claudia added: “We will be speaking to La Voix in tomorrow’s night’s show. We love you so, so much.”

With La Voix appearing gutted in the crowd, Tess and Claudia soon announced the news that none of the remaining six couples will be eliminated this weekend.

“This year Blackpool is going to be even more special, listen up everyone. We have an announcement, we can reveal no one will be leaving Strictly this weekend,” Tess said.

The contestants began hugging one another, appearing to have not been aware of the change, upon hearing the news as the crowd gathered in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom erupted in cheers.

“Oh brilliant, nobody is leaving. You are all safe. There is no dance-off. You are adorable,” Tess added. Claudia stated: “Congratulations, you will all be back next Saturday.”

Later on in the show, Tess suffered a mishap while speaking to former finalists Ashley Roberts and Hollyoaks’ Danny Mac, both of whom will be performing in the results show along with The Wanted’s Jay McGuinness and Bury native Layton Williams.

“We can’t wait to see you perform later on. Thank you so much for coming, up next,” Tess said before taking a big pause which lasted several seconds.

While it’s common knowledge that the Strictly results show is pre-recorded immediately after the live show, everyone involved in the programme alludes to this fact in an attempt to avoid spoilers from leaking.

Following Tess’ lengthy pause, fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to have their say on the moment she revealed a major behind-the-scenes secret to those who think Sundays’ editions of Strictly are aired live.

@mrkphllps1 said: “You can pinpoint the exact moment Tess realises she’s f*****up by officially revealing the Sunday show isn’t live #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.” @imshanereaction added: “That’s the first time I’ve seen a human being buffering #Strictly.”

@sammyloubelle wrote: “Those faces when Tess messed up.” @WinstaMum posted: “I thought l had pressed the pause button.”

@lewjefferies commented: “Did Tess’s batteries run out or something?” @alexr_241 noted: “I just know La Voix would have ate Tess up over this.”a
