It’s no surprise that Bridgerton season two raised the bar from season one. From one love story to the next, this show had fans hooked from the first episode and left them wanting more. Even though season one was a bit more raunchy, season two added more humour and a bit more romance.
This season had some of the funniest one-liners from the Bridgerton clan and some extra sass from others in the ton. These characters put fans in a romantic trance, but also made them laugh throughout one of the best seasons of television.
Benedict Bridgerton

In the first season, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) didn’t have much responsibility because he is the second oldest. The responsibility to carry the family name ultimately falls on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). So Benedict explored his identity through art in the first season, only to pursue his love for it in season two. His careless nature and love for enjoying life make his little jabs toward everyone in the family all the funnier.
His relationship with Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is underrated because they are both the second siblings after Anthony and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor). When Eloise feels like a prize cow at the fair while attending the ball, Benedict just “moo’s” at her, and it’s one of the funniest moments.
Lady Danbury

The conductor of both Bridgerton seasons, Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) brings a different type of humour to the show. As a veteran of the ton, she has been through the debuts more than anyone. She knows everything about everyone and understands the ways of courtship. The way she arches her eyebrow when she sees something that could lead to a scandal is funny because she has seen this all before.
When Lady Danbury gossips with Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuval) and Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), their mischievous banter gives the fans insider knowledge from the mothers of the ton. Anthony was under the watchful eye of Lady Danbury because of his interest in the Sharmas, and whenever Anthony is involved, she sets him straight with a quip one-liner, so he knows she’s onto him.
Anthony Bridgerton

Anthony’s jealousy came through whenever Kate was speaking with another man. It was funny because of how frustrated he became, which then developed into anger and resentment. Watching Anthony snap because of these mixed emotions added humour to those moments.
Eloise Bridgerton

Little Eloise Bridgerton had to grow up in the shadow of her sister Daphne. Many fans connect with Eloise because she goes against society in the Regency era and breaks those gender norms. She wants to be known for intelligence, rather than her beauty, and fans see her struggle with that in season two. Seeing Eloise in a white debutante dress and having her approach the Queen was funny because she still let her personality shine through.
She did not pretend in front of the Queen or any suitor at the parties and that is why she is one of the funniest characters of the season. She was shy and awkward, yet still shared her ideas whenever someone made a comment she didn’t like. She had great comedic timing, especially with her brother Benedict.
Queen Charlotte

In season one Queen Charlotte was a bit more reserved and serious when it came to choosing her diamond. But, in season two, she is consumed with taking down Lady Whistledown, which makes her spiral out of control. The reason why she made many fans laugh was because of her fixation on uncovering Whisteldown’s identity. She tried absolutely everything and fans saw a more cunning side of Queen Charlotte, which only made her character more lovable.
Her connection with Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton this season only made fans love the veteran trio even more because of the way they were orchestrating the entire season. The three women helped each other with whatever scandal that came about and made for fun trio fans didn’t realize they needed.
Kate Sharma

Many are fans of the slow-burn romances and that’s exactly what season two offered. What’s even better is when the writers tie in enemies to lovers storyline, which is for sure to get laughs from everyone. The budding romance between Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton took the Netflix audience by storm. Kate loathed Anthony because of his thought process in finding a wife and Anthony felt like Kate was getting in the way of him courting her sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran).
The lengths Kate and Anthony went to get what they wanted, ultimately brought them closer together. The tactics used and the banter between both of them were hilarious and made this season more playful than the previous one. The best scene had to be the pall mall game, where Anthony and Kate both shared the same competitive spirit, which made for some funny moments.
Daphne Basset

Even though fans didn’t get enough Daphne in season two, she still popped in when necessary to keep an eye on her brother Anthony. This season Daphne assisted Anthony in finding a wife and jabbed him in the process. Since Anthony meddled in Daphne’s affairs, she did the same to him, but more lovingly. Daphne was cheeky and kept an eye on Kate Sharma when no one else was.
When Daphne simply asks Anthony about Kate Sharma, he snaps at her because of his hatred for her. Daphne’s face was hilarious at that moment because there is no need to hate someone that much. Daphne knew there was something more and played off of her brother’s priceless reactions.
Lady Featherington

Lady Featherington (Polly Walker) is an underrated character on the show because everything she does goes unnoticed. In season two, she has to try and save her family, which makes for some pretty fun schemes. Her connection with Lord Featherington (Rupert Young), who had to come to live with them because there needed to be a man in the house, offered some strong tension between them.
Whenever Lady Featherington had a little scheme in mind, she was fun to watch because of how bizarre her plans were; like marrying her eldest off to their cousin to save the family. She has such a sharp wit and can always put anyone in their place.
Lady Bridgerton

Similar to the veteran women in the ton, Lady Bridgerton sees all. The majority of season two has her tending to Anthony because he has lost his ability to truly find love. In this process, she can poke fun at her son, while trying to change his perspective on love. In the meantime, she has to prepare Eloise for her debut and has trouble keeping her under control.
The maternal instincts are not enough during this season and have Lady Bridgerton at her wit’s end. Her reactions to Eloise and Anthony, whenever they did something rash, were funny because she didn’t expect her children to react the way they did.
Colin Bridgerton

The Bridgerton clan has some great personalities and Colin (Luke Newton) is someone who came into his own this season. After spending the summer traveling, he returns all the wiser and with some magic tea. He is always playful with Penelope Featherington (Nicole Coughlan), which adds to the amusing banter that is shared between them. This season also sets up their budding relationship.
When Colin and Benedict are together, they always have a great time, but the addition of this magic powder adds to their brotherly bond. Colin ended up giving Benedict a little too much powder, which made the dinner scene with the Sharmas even funnier than it was supposed to be. Colin looked so smug and those moments with his brother made the season even better.
