Adolescence shocked the world when it was released in March 2025 with its dark and educational themes of incel culture and toxic masculinity. Now, Season 2 of the hard-hitting Netflix drama could see the light of day as Brad Pitt’s production company is in talks to develop the show further. Adolescence revolves around the murder of high school student Katie (Emilia Holliday), who is brutally killed by a 13-year-old schoolboy named Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper). After his arrest, Jamie retains his innocence, even convincing his father (Stephen Graham) until video evidence is revealed that turns his story completely on its head.

Even though the series was filmed in and around Pontefract in West Yorkshire, England, Adolescence‘s bone-chilling narrative and important themes rang across all corners of the world, with episode one of the show watched by 6.45 million people in its first week. Each of its four episodes was shot in one continuous take, which gave viewers a raw and immersive perspective on its challenging story. Created by Jack Thorne, best known for His Dark Materials and for writing the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Liverpudlian heavyweight Stephen Graham, (This is England, Snatch and The Irishman), Adolescence was crafted with the intention of being a limited series, but that idea might be about to change.

According to Deadline, Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B Entertainment, is in active discussions about developing a new season 2 of Adolescence for Netflix. Plan B’s co-presidents, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, are reportedly talking to Philip Barantini, the director of the incredibly impactful and impressive show. Due to the show’s influence it has had on its viewers since its release, it’s not surprising that a season 2 could be on the cards, but many might not have expected Brad Pitt to be attached to it. However, it goes without saying that Adolescence‘s subject matter opened many people’s eyes and has since become a huge and important talking point, with even the creators of the drama being invited to parliament to discuss online safety with its MPs.

In a recent interview on a British morning show, Jack Thorne was asked if he would consider creating a second series of Adolescence for Netflix, but it seems as though the plan was to leave it where the show ended. “I don’t think we’re the right people to tell Katie’s story,” Thorne stated. However, that doesn’t mean that its creator didn’t want a continuation of its hard-hitting narrative, revealing that another company could possibly take it on. “I think there are other makers out there that could tell beautiful dramas about Katie or girls like Katie, and that those shows should be made. Our aim was to try and tell Jamie’s story as fully as we possibly could, and maybe trying to tell her story would dilute that in some way, and maybe we would be inadequate for that task.” adolescence

Maybe Brad Pitt’s company could be the people who take the next stage of the show’s narrative to a brand-new level since Plan B has already worked with Stephen Graham on the movie Snatch. However, it’s hard to say which direction would be best for a Season 2 of the show as it couldn’t lose its vitally important message and would need to include something like Jamie’s trial or the impact Katie’s murder has had on her mother.

Adolescence is streaming right now on Netflix.
