Gogglebox’s Sophie Sandiford announced her engagement to boyfriend of three years Ben Mckeown in a sweet post on Friday.

The armchair critic, 28, who has appeared on the Channel 4 show with brother Pete Sandiford since 2017, beamed alongside her future husband as they enjoyed a glass of celebratory champagne.

She also proudly showed off her sapphire engagement ring which sat on a silver band surrounded by dazzling diamonds.

Another snap showed the couple wearing matching dressing gowns at the luxurious Galgorm Hotel in Ben’s native Northern Ireland, which may have been the location for the lavish proposal.

Sophie captioned the post: ‘WE’RE ENGAGED’.

Sophie and Peter’s famous great uncle and kid’s TV icon Paul Elliot, 78, better known as Paul Chuckle, was first to offer his congratulations with a string of excited emojis.

Meanwhile fellow Gogglebox favourite’s Jenny and Lee gushed: ‘Congratulations to you both much love to ya Jenny and Lee x’

Meanwhile Pete’s wife Paige said: ‘The best news!!! So happy for you both’.

TOWIE’s Amy Childs added: ‘So happy for you’, while Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick wrote: ‘Yessssssss! Congratulations to you both’.

Sophie and Pete’s other great uncle, Paul’s brother Barry, died after a battle with cancer at the age of 73 on August 5, 2018.

Sophie wrote on social media at the time: ‘A truly lovely and funny man to be around. You filled millions of childhoods with laughter and entertainment including mine and Peter’s’.

Sophie first introduced fans to boyfriend Ben back in 2022 with snaps from a family wedding.

Comic legend Paul gave his niece and her new Irish lover his seal of approval as he shared a sweet message.

Commenting on the snap shared by his stunning niece, he said: ‘Looking good guys great to see you all yesterday with @juliejohnson31 @cunny246 to celebrate Jack and @emma_louuise_ wedding.

Earlier this year Pete left Channel 4 viewers in awe after he revealed his real age.

Fans couldn’t believe how old he was after he confessed he was turning 30, with many convinced he was just 18.

In unearthed scenes from 2023, Pete and Sophie were filmed chatting about their personal lives and Pete revealed his girlfriend was pushing him to his limits over his daughter Eva’s birthday.

Gogglebox’s Pete reveals his wife is pregnant with second child

But as they discussed the age of his daughter, Sophie left her brother in awe when she revealed she was 27.

Pete shared his surprise as he quipped: ‘I’m glad you said it because I was about to say 25. You old cow.’

But Sophie didn’t take his comments lightly and reminded him that he was soon to hit a huge age milestone and turn 30.

She snapped back: ‘You’re the big 30 this year. A dirty 30.’

The revelation left TV buffs in shock as they could not believe his age.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer penned: ‘Can’t believe Pete is nearly 30? He looks 18.’

Another another wrote: ‘Pete and Sophie from Gogglebox are absolute icons.’
