Straight fire.

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin has said House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 4 features the best dragon battle in entertainment history.

In a blog post, Martin said the episode, titled The Red Dragon and the Gold, delivered action “in spades” as it adapted the Battle of Rook’s Rest from his book Fire and Blood.

“A lot of you have been wanting for action, I know; this episode delivered it in spades with the Battle of Rook’s Rest, when dragon met dragon in the skies,” Martin said.

“Has there ever been a dragon battle to match it? I seem to recall that Reign of Fire had a few scenes where a dozen dragons were wheeling through the skies. So, okay, maybe that was a bigger scene, with more dragons on screen… But a better battle? I don’t think so. Our guys knocked this one out of the castle. I think they took it as a challenge.”

House of the Dragon is the first of many Game of Thrones spin-off shows which follows House Targaryen — the lineage from which Daenerys comes from — throughout their history.

The latest episode certainly impressed, as it earned a 10/10 in IGN’s review. “Ferociously entertaining TV that finally delivers scale and scope as well as thorny moral dilemmas,” we said.
