But season 16 champion Maddie Poppe opened up to Business Insider about this in 2022, and she noted that American Idol winners likely receive $250,000 in prize money and a recording contract. As for how that number comes to be, she acknowledged that it wasn’t in the way fans would’ve thought.

“You do get $250,000, but not really because of taxes,” Maddie stated at the time. “You get half of it before you complete your record, and then the second half after you complete the record. So, it’s just like an advance from the record deal, but I’m pretty sure I have to recoup it.”

While there isn’t an official confirmation on how much Jordan will have made for his time on American Idol (per People in May 2025), there’s a chance he already got a major benefit from people tuning in every week.
