Tracker star Jensen Ackles is set to return for the show’s second season.
Adapted from Jeffery Deaver’s 2019 novel The Never Game, the CBS drama follows Colter Shaw (This Is Us star Justin Hartley), a survivalist and tracker who helps law enforcement and private citizens for money.
Ackles notably guest-starred in the penultimate episode of season one as Shaw’s estranged older brother Russell.
During a panel at the Television Critics Association’s 2024 Press Tour on Saturday (July 13), Hartley revealed that the show will continue to explore the unusual family dynamic between the two siblings (via TVLine).

“We got him, he’s coming back,” he said of Ackles. “We’re having fun with that. It’s a great story.”
The show’s executive producer Elwood Reid went on to confirm that Ackles will be back for “more than one” episode.
“It’s like family,” he added. “When we text him [he says], ‘Tell me where and tell me when’, and he shows up. He’s just that kind of guy.”
Viewers can expect more family drama in the upcoming season as Manifest star Melissa Roxburgh is also set to return as Shaw’s younger sister Dory, with Reid teasing: “We’ll unpeel some more stuff with his sister.”

Tracker was renewed for a second season after breaking viewing records to become the network’s most-watched show of the 2023-2024 season.
At this weekend’s Press Tour, Reid explained that Shaw’s “dysfunctional family” will play an important part in season two’s storyline.
“If you’ve ever come from a dysfunctional family, you know nobody has any information that’s correct, everybody has their own different reality.

“And so I think one of the things that’s interesting about that and unpeeling that is just the different perspectives they have on the way they grew up and what happened to their family, what particularly happened to the father.”
He concluded: “But Colter, we’re going to learn, was the guy that really bore the brunt of that family dysfunction.”
Tracker’s second season will premiere on October 27 on CBS.
