Benedict Cumberbatch recently opened up about his rumored cameo as Doctor Strange in Deadpool and Wolverine.
The upcoming film is expected to feature several cameo appearances from fan-favorite actors from the Fox Marvel movies and potentially from the MCU actors as well.
One of the characters that is being rumored to appear in the film is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, especially since the trailer showed the titular heroes jumping into a sling ring portal.
Benedict Cumberbatch Addresses Potential Doctor Strange Cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine
In a recent red carpet interview, Cumberbatch was asked whether the portal scene in the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer hints at his potential cameo appearance as Doctor Strange.
As expected, the actor played coy in his response and suggested that an acolyte of his character might be the one responsible for the portal.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s an acolyte of mine or someone I’ve thrown out there to do my dirty laundry,” he responded.
Cumberbatch’s style of response was not surprising since he is not likely allowed to reveal anything if he is indeed going to make a cameo appearance in the film.
At this point, it wouldn’t be out of realm to think that Doctor Strange could show up since he deals with the multiverse and is an expert in the mystic arts which includes creating a sling ring portal.
There is also a possibility that another character who studies the mystic arts might be responsible for the sling ring portal, but it is a good mystery that fans can speculate and theorize about in the several weeks leading up to its release.
We will be able to get an answer once we see the film in its entirety and find out which one is responsible for the portal that the heroes jumped into as teased in the trailer.
Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters this July 26.
