Over the course of three seasons and a spinoff, the Netflix period drama has delivered some very sexy times to fans

Anthony Embarks on His Wife Hunt: A Montage

Anthony Embarks on His Wife Hunt: A MontageBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 1 – “Capital R Rake”

Key Characters – Anthony, Random Sex Workers

Oh my god, nothing more sensual than a dude being super-judgemental of a bunch of totally reasonable ladies, interspersed with Serious Business Man Business and the odd trip to a sex worker. Right, ladies?

Look, this one’s only on the list because at least there was some confirmed sexual contact. And something’s gotta be at the bottom of this list.

59

Let’s Talk About Sex

Let's Talk About SexBridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 2 – “Honeymoon Bliss”

Key Characters – Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury (not like that)

So there’s nothing exceptionally erotic about Lady Danbury’s illustrations of what one might expect in the bedroom. Still, I wanted to call out this scene because it’s the closest to a decent sex education anyone gets on this freaking show (much to the dismay of many characters!) and the young Queen at least seems intrigued — if not thrilled about the prospect of having her head whacked against the headboard so much.

58

Simon Enters… on a Horse

Simon Enters… on a HorseBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 1 – “Diamond of the First Water”

Key Characters – Simon, horse (not like that)

There are some gentlemen who know how to make an entrance, and this show knows it: Simon on a horse is arguably a bigger thirst trap than any shirtless scenes to come. (Not that Regé-Jean Page has anything to worry about in that regard.)

57

“So You Find My Smile Pleasing?”

"So You Find My Smile Pleasing?"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 1 – “Capital R Rake”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

Much of Kate and Anthony’s early chemistry is tied up with her antipathy towards him in this scene, in which she chews Anthony out after overhearing his priggish rant about his requirements for a wife. Mostly because he seems a little turned on by her anger towards him. (Does Anthony have a shame kink? Future scenes between him and Kate do not discredit this idea!)

56

Farmer George

Farmer GeorgeBridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 3 – “Even Days”

Key Characters – King George, Queen Charlotte

I don’t know what it is, exactly, but the way he says “I’m a farmer” is hot.

55

A Good Gift!

A Good Gift!Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 4 – “Old Friends”

Key Characters – Francesca, Lord Kilmartin

Lord Kilmartin’s courtship of Francesca is a quiet, chaste, and tender thing, but he definitely knows how to connect with the quietest Bridgerton. And you can really tell how happy they’re going to be together when he presents her with the deeply thoughtful gift of music arranged to her specifications — a gift so thoughtful that it banishes any thoughts of Lord Samadani from her mind. Later, Kilmartin promises not to hide her piano stool, which is for Francesca the best vow possible. But that doesn’t make her nearly as excited as this initial gift.

54

“You Do Not Deserve to Breathe the Same Air as Her”

"You Do Not Deserve to Breathe the Same Air as Her"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 2 – “Shock and Delight”

Key Characters – Simon, Lord Berbrooke

When Simon threatens Lord Berbrooke after Berbrooke insults Daphne’s honor, it’s honestly hotter than when Simon and Daphne dance together for the first time.

53

“You Would Swoon”

"You Would Swoon"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 1 – “Out of the Shadows”

Key Characters – Colin, Random Young Ladies

Colin knows exactly how to stir up the ladies of the ton, and it’s by telling them he can’t tell them what he was up to on his adventures throughout the world. The energy is horny indeed at this garden party.

52

“We Must Appear Madly in Love”

"We Must Appear Madly in Love"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 1 – “Diamond of the First Water”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

When Daphne defends her own honor against Berbrooke, Simon’s impressed, and after he proposes their fake courtship, they walk to the dance floor. It’s more a set-up for horniness than anything else, though Simon coaching her on how to “fake” their mutual attraction definitely knocks things up a notch.

51

Flirting Practice

Flirting PracticeBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 2 – “How Bright the Moon”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

When Colin agrees to help Penelope figure out the basics of flirting with men, her gift with words heats things up remarkably. Does Colin have a praise kink?

50

Daphne on Top

Daphne on TopBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 6 – “Swish”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

This crucial scene from Daphne and Simon’s marriage is ranked here because it’s one of the messiest and most complicated of the series. On the one hand, the look on Simon’s face when Daphne shows some real initiative is arguably one of the show’s most erotic moments. On the other hand, while the two of them have still not had an open and honest conversation about Simon’s issues with having children, by this point Daphne understands enough about the actual act of intercourse to cross a line — she at least knows that Simon doesn’t want to come inside her, and consent becomes murky as a result. So, the scene definitely has its moments, but given the sour note on which it ends, it’s impossible to rank it any higher.

49

Flirting, with Feminism

Flirting, with FeminismBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 6 – “The Choice”

Key Characters – Eloise, Theo Sharpe

Eloise’s flirtation with a person with a job (gasp!) never gets that sensual — she’s too innocent, and he’s too aware of the difference in their social statuses. Still, he gives her books during their most intimate and open scene together, which is very much speaking her love language, and we must respect young Theo’s game.

48

“Other… Possibilities for the Future”

"Other… Possibilities for the Future"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 8 – “The Viscount Who Loved Me”

Key Characters – Lady Featherington, Jack Featherington

The new Lord Featherington resorts to a touch of seduction in order to keep Lady Featherington from blowing up his con, ultimately going so far as to give her a tantalizing kiss while trying to convince her to flee with him to America. How authentic an offer that was may never be known, because Jack underestimated Lady Featherington’s own conning instincts. But there was some real chemistry between the two — a spinoff series in which they fleeced snobs around the world could have been fun.

47

A Very Good Dream

A Very Good DreamBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 3 – “Art of the Swoon”

Key Characters – Daphne, (Dream) Simon

Daphne wakes up from quite the lusty slumber — she might have been dreaming about just the ghost of a kiss, but it’s still pretty sensual

46

The Queen’s Horny Ballet

The Queen's Horny BalletBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 4 – “Old Friends”

Key Characters – The Queen, Ballet Dancers

“Perhaps this little love play will inspire my lovers tonight,” the queen says of the half-naked ballet act around which the ton has gathered… And it sure does seem to have everyone thinking thoughts.

45

Tea Time

Tea TimeBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 3 – “Art of the Swoon”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

Is it possible to give a spoon cunnilingus? Because that’s what Simon does here, and boy does it have an affect on Daphne.

44

Bee Sting

Bee StingBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 3 – “A Bee in Your Bonnet”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

While many early scenes between Anthony and Kate confuse flirty banter with snarky insults, this scene manages to actually deliver on the emotional connection that will build in later scenes. Due to memories of losing his father, Anthony’s freak-out over Kate getting stung by a bee has him in an emotionally vulnerable place, and the ensuing intimacy definitely opens something up in him. It could be hornier. But both he and Kate are pretty affected, especially as they listen to each others’ hearts beat.

43

An Unasked Question

An Unasked QuestionBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 3 – “Forces of Nature”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

Getting some competition from Lord Debling for Penelope’s attention has a surprising impact on Colin, leaving him so tongue-tied he can’t actually figure out what he wants to say to Penelope at the ball. This moment owes everything to its editing — the close-ups take it to a whole new level.

42

“I Am Not Afraid of You”

"I Am Not Afraid of You"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 3 – “Forces of Nature”

Key Characters – Benedict, Tilley Arnold

Between their conversation in the hallway and their later dance, this lady couldn’t be yelling “fuck me raw” any louder without getting cast out of proper society. A lot of Benedict and Tilley’s other scenes together are so easy and carefree that they don’t make much of an impact — like, congrats to these two for figuring out how to have casual sex in an incredibly restrictive society, but it stops being all that interesting at a certain point. At least for now…

41

Glove on Glove

Glove on GloveBridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 3 – “Even Days”

Key Characters – Brimsley, Reynolds

One of the best surprises of Queen Charlotte was the relationship between the King and Queen’s footmen — what became of Reynolds in the show’s present-day timeline remains a mystery, but it’s lovely to see the pair get their own moments of connection, beginning with this G-rated holding of hands in the hallways of the palace, where anyone could see.

40

Colin Cuts His Hand

Colin Cuts His HandBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 2 – “How Bright the Moon”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

Penelope tells Colin his writing is very good while holding his bleeding hand, and based on his reaction — yep, Colin definitely has a praise kink.

39

“We Are Untold Stories”

"We Are Untold Stories"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 5 – “Gardens in Bloom”

Key Characters – Violet Bridgerton, Lady Danbury (not like that)

Another fun surprise from Queen Charlotte was its focus on the older women in the cast, especially Violet contending with the realization that her husband might be deceased, but she is definitely… not. This might not be a very explicit scene, but it is a scene in which a woman says “I want to be ‘gardened’ as much as possible…” and her friend tells her “Yes, totally get it, and you deserve that.” It’s nice!
For the record, none of Violet’s flirtations with Lord Anderson (Lady Danbury’s brother!) in Season 3 were horny enough to make the cut for this list — but they are very sweet scenes, enhanced by the knowledge that Violet is definitely ready to move on with someone new, after all these years. And good for her!

38

Sizing the Ring

Sizing the RingBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 5 – “An Unthinkable Fate”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

First Anthony is yelling about how nothing happened between them at Aubrey Hall, then Kate’s got an engagement ring on her hand and Anthony’s stroking it. There’s a certain point during the season where it seems like Anthony’s mental and physical confusion over which Sharma sister he wants to marry is close to breaking him.

37

Maybe One Should Not Get Handsy With One’s Future Sister-in-Law at the Literal Altar

Maybe One Should Not Get Handsy With One's Future Sister-in-Law at the Literal AltarBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 6 – “The Choice”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

A horny replacement of a bracelet is all Edwina needs to figure out that maybe she shouldn’t marry the dude clearly lusting after her sister. Still, Anthony could have maybe showed a little restraint. Then again, it clued Edwina into the depths of Anthony’s feelings, so a net benefit overall.

36

Balloon Peril!

Balloon Peril!Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 3 – “Forces of Nature”

Key Characters – Ensemble

This entire sequence is very silly, but it also brings out a lot of latent horniess for the whole cast. For one thing, the cause of the balloon getting loose is Prudence Dankworth (née Featherington) and her new husband engaging in some awkward spontaneous canoodling, and then you’ve got Colin with the rolled-up sleeves being all heroic while Lord Debling rushes to protect Penelope… Perhaps the most chaotic and horny balloon launch in screen history? (Admittedly not a lot of competition there.)

35

A Gift from a Prince

A Gift from a PrinceBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 4 – “An Affair of Honor”

Key Characters – Daphne, Prince Friedrich, (Dream) Simon

When Prince Friedrich puts the necklace on Daphne, the skin-on-skin contact has a definite effect on Daphne… Though her thoughts, once again, turn to Simon. To quote Consequence’s own Wren Graves, “Phoebe Dynevor is her generation’s greatest quiver-er — any scene where she’s not quivering is wasting her talent.” This scene, at least, does not disappoint.

34

Late Night in the Garden

Late Night in the GardenBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 2 – “How Bright the Moon”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

“I do not wish to die without ever being kissed” isn’t perhaps the sexiest way to make your first kiss ever happen, but it wins Colin over. Really, Penelope’s anticipation is what makes this scene sing.

33

“I’m Receiving Far Too Much Attention Here”

"I'm Receiving Far Too Much Attention Here"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 5 – “The Duke and I”

Key Characters – Benedict, Genevieve, Sir Granville, other sexy art nerds

Sir Granville’s parties have everything: Art, sexy ladies pulling you into threesomes, your first glimpse of sexy man-on-man action… Nothing like a Regency-era orgy, even if doesn’t really get more explicit than kissing. Benedict, still early in his journey of his liberation, definitely seems to have his eyes opened.

32

“Was I Truly That Blind?”

"Was I Truly That Blind?"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 7 – “Harmony”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate, Edwina

In the aftermath of Anthony and Edwina’s failed nuptials, the fact that Anthony and Kate can’t be within five feet of each other without getting all hornt up is maybe more funny than sexy… Well, it’s honestly both.

31

Male Modeling

Male ModelingBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 5 – “An Unthinkable Fate”

Key Characters – Benedict, Tessa the art student

Benedict sure doesn’t hesitate to take his clothes off in front of a lady, though she did ask. Honestly, this scene is sexier than the later scene in which Benedict and the lady do actually embrace nakedly.

30

“I Must Start Learning the Lie of the Land”

"I Must Start Learning the Lie of the Land"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 6 – “Swish”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

As the new lady of the house, Daphne wants to meet up with her new housekeeper, but Simon would like her to stay in bed. Some good steamy canoodling ensues, even if it’s semi-reluctant on one side.

Dearest reader, what is to be said, about the foolish decisions made by pop culture writers in the face of a cultural phenomenon like Bridgerton? Since the show’s December 2020 debut, it has radically shifted our idea of what a Regency-era period romance might look like on television, with a racially inclusive cast, the occasional hint of LGBTQ+ characters, and a frank understanding that throughout time, human beings have always been an intriguing, complicated, but most importantly horny species.

It is the latter quality that leads us to today’s folly — an exhaustive look at the show’s ongoing passion for passion. These are characters, after all, who have been raised with epic expectations of the marriage mart, before confronting the conflicts and compromises at its core, and their dalliances with each other (or indeed, sometimes alone) has proven to be quite fruitful entertainment for Netflix, for three seasons now, and surely more to come.

And now, I break character, because after rewatching all 30 produced episodes of Bridgerton (including spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) the impossible has occurred — I am now slightly sick of hearing Dame Julie Andrews’ voice, even inside my own head. But my suffering was in the name of a most noble cause: Logging at least 132 scenes from the Netflix drama that brought with them at least a little erotic flavor, and narrowing those scenes down to the 60 most notable moments.

There’s a pretty wide range of horniness on display here, from a daring clasp of hands in a hallway to full-blown oral sex on a staircase. (And the staircase sex isn’t even ranked number one!) Not making the cut were most scenes in which a dude frequents a sex worker (of which there were a lot), along with some of the drier moments of flirtation. (From my notes, at one point during Season 3: “Get it together Violet you have eight children.”)

There are moments driven by love and moments driven by passion and moments driven by frustration and moments driven by… well, horniness is really the best word. Because Bridgerton, like all epic romances, embraces its characters as human beings, full of flaws and desires and bad choices and good intentions. And these scenes below epitomize that.

29

The Featherington Sisters Figure It Out

The Featherington Sisters Figure It OutBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 2 – “How Bright the Moon”

Key Characters – Philippa Featherington, Prudence Featherington, their respective husbands

After some miscommunication about what they’re actually supposed to be doing in bed with their husbands, Prudence and Philippa finally get their shit together. (In separate rooms, to be clear.) And one of them, at least, seems pretty happy about the results! They’re silly girls, but by this point in the series they’re actually being pretty nice to Penelope and so there’s no reason to bear them ill will.

28

“Because You Vex Me”

"Because You Vex Me"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 4 – “Victory”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

The enemies-to-lovers vibes kick in hard during Anthony and Kate’s steamy (and unchaperoned!) scene together, especially as he keeps creeping closer to her: “My heart is with your sister” isn’t as much of a deterrant as Anthony hopes, especially when he follows up with “Tell me you feel nothing and I will walk away.”

27

At the Gate Again

At the Gate AgainBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 3 – “Forces of Nature”

Key Characters – Colin, (Dream) Penelope

It’s a very sexy dream, a much sexier kiss than before… and the twist is that it’s Colin’s dream! Upon waking, he seems quite confused by it. But still also turned on.

26

We Saw You Across the Bar and We Really Liked Your Vibe

We Saw You Across the Bar and We Really Liked Your VibeBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 6 – “Romancing Mister Bridgerton”

Key Characters – Benedict, Tilley Arnold, Paul Suarez

Benedict getting hit on by a dude is, at this point, something he has the tiniest bit of experience with. But getting the full-tilt offer to join this very hot couple upstairs still causes him to freak out a little — mostly because you can tell he’s tempted.

25

“Here We Are, Standing Perfectly Still”

"Here We Are, Standing Perfectly Still"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 6 – “The Choice”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

A nice example of a longing look from Anthony, followed by some very vigorous making out. Kate and Anthony still don’t seem to know what the hell they’re doing, but at least they’re closer to being on the same page about it.

24

Make-Out Outside the Modeiste’s Shop

Make-Out Outside the Modeiste's ShopBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 7 – “Joining of Hands”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

As Colin grapples with the revelation of Penelope’s biggest secret, their furtive late-night connection offers up some hope that they might be able to work out their issues — at the very least, they’re still hot for each other, and they hold hands before saying goodbye for the night.

23

A Book-Rattling Desk Set

A Book-Rattling Desk SetBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 6 – “Swish”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

One of many sexy interludes from Daphne and Simon’s honeymoon phase, this impromptu rutting on Simon’s desk doesn’t last that long, and also ends with the not-so-sexy moment of him seeking out a tissue.

22

Bathtime!

Bathtime!Bridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 6 – “Crown Jewels”

Key Characters – Brimsley, Reynolds

Both horny and romantic (as baths often are), with the flirty footmen daring to dream of a future together. (Where is Reynolds now, Shonda? We deserve to know!)

21

“Is There Nothing Left?”

"Is There Nothing Left?"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 7 – “Oceans Apart”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

Cunnilingus on a staircase does not look terribly comfortable, but the real issue is the tattered trust between Simon and Daphne, which keeps things from going any further.

20

Under the Bleachers

Under the BleachersBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 8 – “After the Rain”

Key Characters – Anthony, Siena Rosso

Anthony’s Season 1 dalliances with opera singer Siena feel more misguided than truly erotic, but at an already sexually-charged boxing match, these dummies really can’t contain themselves, engaging in some upright thrusting where no one can see.

19

Confrontation in the Maze

Confrontation in the MazeBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 4 – “An Affair of Honor”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

The first real kiss between Daphne and Simon is an excellent example of a grab-and-kiss, followed by some literal necking between them. Definitely erotic enough to inspire a duel (see above) and/or hasty marriage!

18

Cunnilingus Interruptus

Cunnilingus InterruptusBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 1 – “Out of the Shadows”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

Anthony and Kate enjoying a great deal of marital bliss in Season 3, Episode 1 is one way to make up for a comparative lack of horniness in Season 2 — their sweet intimacy here is a nice reminder that marriage is never the end of a love story.

17

What Ends Up Being the Real Wedding Night

What Ends Up Being the Real Wedding NightBridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 2 – “Honeymoon Bliss”

Key Characters – King George, Queen Charlotte

Despite a rocky start, Queen Charlotte’s central couple has a few solid love scenes, beginning with their first time together: “I’m very good with buttons” is a sexy opening line thanks to actor Corey Mylchreest, and it leads to a sweet, tender, and relatively spicy time.

16

A Party of Three?

A Party of Three?Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 8 – “Into the Light”

Key Characters – Benedict, Tilley Arnold, Paul Suarez

The show’s newly-formed throuple enjoys a tender bit of post-coital cuddling, while musing on how their sexiness wouldn’t be understood by the rest of society. Not as hot as their other scenes together, but still worthy of note because of their established intimacy — even though it’s not going to last.

15

Get It, Pen

Get It, PenBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 8 – “Into the Light”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

Every Bridgerton season finale has a scene in which the happy couple confirms their happiness with some semi-explicit sexin’. This one features Penelope on top, so the “good for her!” vibes are strong.

14

“You Do… Touch Yourself?”

"You Do… Touch Yourself?"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 3 – “Art of the Swoon”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

As mentioned previously, Regency-era attitudes towards proper sex education can make Bridgerton deeply frustrating to watch. However, sometimes the show knows exactly the right way to lean into that, such as this scene in which Simon “encourages” Daphne to discover the joys of masturbation.

Look, they are in full view of the ton when he asks her what she knows about “what happens between a husband and a wife… NOT when you are sleeping,” but its ranking here is not a clerical error: It is significantly hotter than many scenes of actual intercourse. (From my original notes: “Jesus fucking christ explaining masturbation to this girl what do you think you’re doing to her???”)

13

They Made It to a Bed!

They Made It to a Bed!Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 8 – “The Viscount Who Loved Me”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

Season 2 ends with some fully naked canoodling for our lovers, and good for them. While it’s not as explicit as other scenes they have together, they finally get to enjoy each other on a much more comfortable surface than a gazebo floor.

12

“You Finished! How Lovely.”

"You Finished! How Lovely."Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 3 – “Art of the Swoon”

Key Characters – Daphne, (Dream) Simon

Simon wasn’t very specific in his instructions about how to handle one’s own business, but Daphne sure seemed to get the gist of it when left to her own devices — especially with some help from thoughts of him.

11

An Informal Dinner

An Informal DinnerBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 6 – “Swish”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

First, Simon hates sitting so far away from Daphne at dinner, then she’s taking off her gloves and he’s dragging her out into the rain and they’re banging away on the grounds… Very horny throughout.

10

“I Am Not Here”

"I Am Not Here"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 5 – “Gardens in Bloom”

Key Characters – Lady Danbury, Lord Ledger

Okay, when Lady Danbury told Violet her garden bloomed after she became a widow… she didn’t mention it was Violet’s dad who was the gardener! While one rarely wants to cheer on scenes of actual adultery, there is a bit of “it is hot because it’s forbidden” here. Also, the wanting of this scene really plays.

9

“A Grander Finish to a Season”

"A Grander Finish to a Season"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 8 – “After the Rain”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

Daphne and Simon’s season-ending romp feels more like a scene of reconciliation at first, though things heat up as soon as they get with the kissing. Nothing too groundbreaking in terms of filmed lovemaking, but hey, we’ve got consensual intercourse to completion! Hooray for everyone.

8

Not a Bad Honeymoon

Not a Bad HoneymoonBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 6 – “Swish”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

So with montages, it can be hard to build up some real sexy steam, but this extended look at Daphne and Simon’s honeymoon phase even revs up their staff. We’ve got beds, we’ve got picnic blankets, we’ve got a library ladder…. Maybe one of those things is less comfortable than the others, but the newlyweds seem happy.

7

“I Believe His Bits to Be Fine”

"I Believe His Bits to Be Fine"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 2 – “Honeymoon Bliss”

Key Characters – Brimsley, Reynolds

Look at you, Bridgerton, with your first prominent example of gay male representation! My goodness, these men are hot for each other and hot in general, even while talking about the King’s possibly deformed penis! (A remarkable achievement, to be sure)

6

A Carriage Ride Indeed

A Carriage Ride IndeedBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 4 – “Old Friends”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

The heavy breathing right before the kissing happens is a nice touch, as is the wonder on her face as the kissing gets heated. And then Colin’s hands slip up her skirt, and Penelope is feeling things she’s never felt before. It’s an impressively hot sequence, even by this show’s standards.

5

“Wanting to Be Nowhere Except With You”

"Wanting to Be Nowhere Except With You"Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 2, Episode 7 – “Harmony”

Key Characters – Anthony, Kate

It’s really when Anthony starts sniffing Kate that things get good here. What’s also nice is that this is the scene that makes Anthony realize just how similar he and Kate are, and also then we get some quality smooches seguing into a lot of “do not stop” and clothes going bye-bye. This is at least the third depiction of cunnilingus in the show? With a few pretty explicit glimpses of him looking at her from between her legs.

4

To Quote the Closed Captioning: [Intriguing Music Builds Slowly]

To Quote the Closed Captioning: [Intriguing Music Builds Slowly]Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 7 – “Joining of Hands”

Key Characters – Benedict, Tilley Arnold, Paul Suarez

Benedict and Tilly’s “Dear Friend Paul” burn the house down with their first kiss, and things only get hotter from there as our new throuple make their way to the bedroom. There has been a lot of anticipation around Benedict’s potential bisexuality since the show began, and this scene really delivered on that passion.

3

Even Days

Even DaysBridgerton (Netflix)

Queen Charlotte, Episode 3 – “Even Days”

Key Characters – King George, Queen Charlotte

The not-so-platonic ideal of hate-fucking, complete with buttons ripping off shirts, a touch of oral sex, and an unconventional use of surfaces. Honestly, each coupling flows so fast into the next that it stands out in the memory as one continual sequence of horniness.

2

“You Burn for Me?… I Burn for You.”

"You Burn for Me?... I Burn for You."Bridgerton (Netflix)

Season 1, Episode 5 – “The Duke and I”

Key Characters – Daphne, Simon

The wedding night gets off to a shaky start before some fireside confessions finally get these two dummies into the same bed. Director Sheree Folkson aims more for beauty than sensuality inititally, but then Simon goes and asks Daphne what she thought about when she touched herself and it is on. Daphne probably would have appreciated some additional foreplay, but still a good gaspy thrusty time.

1

Standing Up, Then Lying Down

Standing Up, Then Lying DownBridgerton (Netflix)

Season 3, Episode 5 – “Tick Tock”

Key Characters – Colin, Penelope

Colin yelling at Lady Featherington and Penelope getting a tour of their future home is an excellent prelude to the series’ most passionate encounter to date, with some explicit nudity, some real depth of feeling, and a major emphasis on her beauty. You don’t get a lot of deliberate undressing like this on this show, and the intentionality of it burns. Not to mention the look on Colin’s face when he tells “Not there… Not yet.” They are happy and in love and it’s really very sweet. As well as damn hot. Bridgerton at its best.
