Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson will be a sanctioned, professional fight over eight two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves, but little else is clear about the contract

Carl Froch claims Mike Tyson will allegedly be penalised if he knocks out Jake Paul out and ends their fight early. Paul and Tyson will be a sanctioned, professional fight. But Froch has heard that the contract financially incentivises the former undisputed heavyweight champion to not finish the fight inside the first round.

Tyson won 44 of his 50 pro victories by knockout, with 24 being over within the first round. His next fight on 20 July against Paul will consist of eight two-minute rounds.

His opponent’s best chance of success is taking advantage of his activity and youth. ‘Iron Mike’ will be 31 years younger than Paul on fight night.

He has also been out of the ring for three-and-a-half years. Since then, Paul has fought nine times, making his pro debut on the undercard before Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr.

Froch alleges that the contract for them to fight is no normal deal. “From what I’m hearing with the contracts, allegedly, he gets paid less if he wins in round one, Tyson, or if he gets a knockout, he gets paid even less,” he said, speaking to Safebettingsites.co.uk.

“There’s restrictions in his contract based on how he wins. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed, but I’ve read somewhere that there’s a clause in his contract that means he’s going to earn less money if he goes out there and destroys Jake Paul.

“Because that’s Mike Tyson’s chance, isn’t it?

“Comes out, still got all of his power, still got his punching power, still feels strong, can still throw a few decent punches, but his fitness and cardiovascular endurance are pretty much gone, his reflexes are shot to bits, he’s got no real timing, he can’t extend and he hasn’t got the speed to land shots.

Froch continued: “So the best chance Mike Tyson’s got is to get on Jake Paul or Jake Paul tries to grab hold of him and push him off, manhandle him and ——- smash him on the side of the head.

“Mike Tyson has got a chance early on at the start of the fight if he connects, so I reckon Jake Paul is a massive favourite in a shambles of an exhibition, which I think shouldn’t be happening.”

As the former world champion alludes to, he is not a fan of the event. “I think it’s disgusting, but I’ve made my point quite clear.

“Jake Paul, ——- around trying to promote the show; it’s embarrassing. “I hope he (Tyson) lands a shot, I just hope he lands a couple of shots and puts Jake Paul in his place, but, unfortunately, it’s pre-scripted, Mike Tyson doesn’t play the game, and he’s 58 when they get together.

“I’m not gonna watch it; I’m gonna refuse to watch it. I’m not getting involved in it.” Froch concluded: “The Jake Paul – Mike Tyson fight shouldn’t be happening at all, it’s not a professional boxing match, it’s an exhibition.”
