Jonathan Bailey has officially signed on to star in the upcoming Jurassic World.
Jurassic World 4 is in the works, and Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey officially confirmed he will be the lead in the upcoming installment. The news of the actor being in talks came out in mid-April, but he had known about it far longer.
In 2015, the blockbuster Jurassic Park trilogy continued with a modern sequel titled Jurassic World. The new film series brought Chris Pratt another leading role in a franchise, where he starred alongside Bryce Dallas Howard. The trilogy ran between 2015 and 2022, ending with Jurassic World: Dominion. Pratt and Dallas Howard are not set to reprise their roles.
However, the new film will bring brand-new actors. Scarlett Johansson is officially in talks to lead the film, and now Jonathan Bailey, who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton on Netflix’s historical drama Bridgerton, has officially confirmed his leading role. The news of Bailey’s casting in Jurassic World came out this past April, and now it’s a done deal.
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jonathan Bailey confirmed he’s the new lead in the new dinosaur installment. Fallon was the one to announce the news after discussing a photo of Bailey on the Jurassic World ride at Universal. He confirmed, adding that he was “freaking out,” adding, “That is me trying to contain it there.”
Explaining the photo, which he recently posted on his Instagram account and actually dated April 9, 2024, the actor noted he got a private tour at Universal thanks to his upcoming role in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked. However, Bailey had known about his part in Jurassic World at that time, but he couldn’t say. “It’s dated the 9th of April, so I’ve sort of sat with the secret for about a month and a bit.” He continued, “It’s mind-blowing and it’s brilliant.”
He couldn’t be more excited about the part, and the actor expressed his bewilderment. “It’s history, and it’s the John Williams score, it’s Spielberg,” Bailey gushed. “I had got nightmares for sort of 30 years, so now my nightmare has come true.”
Jonathan Bailey Has Many Exciting Projects Ahead
The actor rose to fame thanks to his role as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s Regency drama Bridgerton. He was a supporting character in the first season and the lead in the second one, and he and his new wife, Kate, will still be an important part of the upcoming season, which premieres on the streaming service on May 16.
However, the actor has been working on many side projects. Aside from his exciting new role in the Jurassic World franchise, he will also play Fiyero in Wicked, and has joined Netflix’s young adult series Heartstopper Season 3 as Jack Maddox.
The upcoming Jurassic World will have Gareth Edwards at the helm, with a script by David Koepp. Steven Spielberg will act as an executive producer, and the film is expected to premiere on July 2, 2025.
