6 Shows and Movies Like ‘Off Campus’

Since its debut in May, Off Campus has quickly risen in the ranks as one of Prime Video‘s most watched series. The show, based off of Elle Kennedy’s book series, has had viewers of all ages enthralled in the romantic endeavors of the Briar University students.

The series follows the story of Briar University hockey star Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and music major Hannah Wells (Ella Bright). Hannah is struggling big time with the loss of her scholarship, and her seemingly unrequited crush on musician Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston). However, when Garrett comes up to her with an offer to help her win Justin’s favor in exchange for tutoring him, she’s hesitant but eventually accepts. The two take on the fake relationship trope in a way that has you wishing they would figure out they were meant to be.

If you’re looking for a show that will fill the Off Campus void while waiting for the second season, then we have you covered. There are many TV shows and movies that encapsulate the essence of a whirlwind story about the college experience, romance, and friendship, but here are six binge-worthy options to get you started.

‘Heated Rivalry’

It is a big year for hockey romances. Heated Rivalry has all the elements that make up a great sports romance: hockey, love, angst, and steamy scenes that keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Although Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya’s (Connor Storrie) relationship is a bit more complicated than Garrett and Hannah’s, the main characters enrapture the viewers in the highs and lows of their secret relationship. This hockey rivals-to-lovers story has been the show on everyone’s mind lately, and it is a perfect show follow-up for Off Campus.

Fake dating is one of the main tropes in Off Campus, and a popular trope in TV and film. If you were a fan of Hannah and Garrett’s secret deal, then you would be entranced by the love story of Lara Jean Song-Covey (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo). The movie, based on the Jenny Han novel of the same name, follows the aftermath of Lara Jean’s secret love letters being sent to the boys she wrote to, including Peter. Lara Jean and Peter enter a fake relationship to help Lara Jean avoid confronting one of the other recipients of a letter, and to help Peter make his ex-girlfriend jealous. However, much like Hannah and Garrett, the two do not anticipate falling in love.

‘One Tree Hill’

We would be remiss to not include one of the original sports dramas of the early aughts. If you like love triangles, family drama, and slow-burn romances, then it’s not too late to watch (or rewatch) the popular early 2000s drama One Tree Hill. The show stars James Lafferty and Chad Michael Murray as half-brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott, as they balance between being rivals on the basketball court and being true brothers. The drama that unfolds in One Tree Hill is sure to have viewers engrossed in all nine seasons.

‘Dirty Dancing’

Dirty Dancing is nothing like the chaotic college-era sports romance that is Off Campus. However, if you have not seen it, you might have missed the numerous references to the 1987 movie made by Garrett and Hannah in Off Campus. Garrett and Hannah bond over a shared love for the movie, and their love is not unwarranted. The film, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, is a beautiful love story told through the art of dance. Their characters Johnny and Baby are forced into an unlikely friendship as Johnny teaches Baby how to be his dance partner, and the two spend the summer falling in love.
