Ahead of Stranger Things’ final season, the show has provided a sneak peak at whats to come, with an unexpected change in the Wheeler family. Stranger Things was one of the flagship shows for Netflix’s original content when it first began streaming in 2016. However, five seasons later, with so many large gaps in production, the show is set to release the fifth and final season in 2025, almost 10 years later.

This has also resulted in the main characters, who originally started out as pre-teens when filming began on season 1, are now in adulthood and beginning to look slightly at odds with their intended ages in the show. While the actors for characters like the four original boys, Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, and recent addition Max will be returning in Stranger Things season 5, some of the less prominent roles have surprisingly been recast ahead of the final season. The most notable of which comes from directly inside the Wheeler family, with Mike and Nancy’s younger sister having a new actress tackle the role.

A New Young Horror Star Is Joining The Cast

When the show began in 2016, young twins, Anniston and Tinsley Price were cast in the role of Holly Wheeler. At the time, the girls were very young, having both been born in 2012. Since that time, the girls have returned throughout the show, but Holly’s role has remained small and only included very few lines in any given season. However, ahead of the final season, the show has opted to cast another young actress in the role, Nell Fisher, who has previously appeared in films like Evil Dead Rise.

Interestingly, Fisher is actually slightly older than the Price twins, having been born in 2011, but considering the way the rest of the cast has matured and entered adulthood, this could be to help ensure they do not look too drastically different in age. In addition, Fisher has experience in a hands-on horror role, where she had a fairly prominent part, rather than the role being reduced to a background part. Ultimately, the experience that Fisher has, and her previous work may make her a better fit for whatever Holly Wheeler is expected to do in Stranger Things season 5.

Considering the older Wheeler siblings are two of the strongest and best leaders in the show, it makes sense that young Holly Wheeler would be similarly headstrong. However, up to this point, the show had not paid much attention to the youngest Wheeler child, and the character has been largely relegated to the background. Now, with the show coming to a close, it is time to see Holly stepping out of her comfort zone, and aiding in the family business of taking down monsters and saving Hawkins.

After all, within the story, Holly is now at a similar age to her brother when he started fighting the mystical forces of the Upside Down. Casting Fisher to handle this transition for the character makes sense due to her horror background, and her more prominent roles. She will be able to take Holly from a timid young girl to a strong and brave figure who could even gather the other younger siblings together into another Party, such as Lucas’ younger sister, who had a much more prominent role in Stranger Things seasons 3 and 4.
