Everyone is hoping that there might be some kind of intervention from Jane or Charles [Spencer] which will hopefully bring the brothers back together, said a source.

Prince Harry came face-to-face with his brother Prince William at a memorial service for their late mother’s brother-in-law Lord Robert Fellowes on Thursday.

Prince Harry flew from his home in the US to join his brother at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham.

The memorial service took place close to the Royal Family’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

A source tells Express.co.uk that both Prince William and Prince Harry were in attendance but didn’t speak to one another during the service and there is only one thing that can repair their shattered relationship – the Spencer family.

Their joint appearance comes after insiders close to the duke previously confirmed that he would miss the event over his UK security fears.

The meeting is the first sign of a slight thawing between the warring brothers which has given friends an element of hope for a reconciliation.

“Harry and William were both present at the memorial,” said the source. “They sat apart and didn’t appear to speak with each other during the service.

Meanwhile, the vicar who conducted the service revealed that Prince Harry and Prince William did not speak to each other as they walked out of church separately after the memorial service.

The Reverend Dan Tansey admitted he was surprised to see both William and Harry at the service which was attended by around 300 people.

He told MailOnline: “The memorial service was yesterday [Thursday]. The private funeral took place earlier in the week with just [close] family.”
