Roger Waters shared derogatory comments about Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, provoking a reaction from the recently departed metal icon’s son, Jack.

Waters made the remarks in question during a recent interview on The Independent Ink podcast while apparently discussing popular culture and imperialism, arguing that celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift are weaponized as distractions, before mentioning The Prince of Darkness (via Stereogum):

“Or Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him — in his whatever that state that he was in his whole life, we’ll never know. Although he was all over the TV, for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense. The music, I have no idea, I couldn’t give a fuck. I don’t care about Black Sabbath. I never did. I have no interest in… biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less.”

The 81-year-old musician’s comments, made less than two months following the beloved singer’s passing, prompted a reply from Jack Osbourne. Taking to social media, he wrote:

“Hey Roger Waters, fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt. Thanks for proving him right.”

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, weeks after delivering his farewell performance as a solo artist and frontman of Black Sabbath at the massive charity event in his native Birmingham. In addition to his family and fans across the world, Ozzy was mourned by countless musicians across many different genres.

His mentee and rising star Yungblud, who performed a poignant cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” at “Back to the Beginning”, vowed to keep performing it in honor of the late legend.
