The limited series is reportedly in talks to become multi-season.

Is Netflix’s hit series Adolescence done for good? It seems not. Reports claim the series crew is in talks to make Adolescence season 2 a reality, and things look promising.

Since its premiere on March 13, 2025, Adolescence has become a phenomenon for Netflix, amassing over 114 million views in less than a month and topping the streamer’s English TV list.

The show, released as a limited series, centers around the story of Jamie Miller, played by newcomer Owen Cooper. Miller is a 13-year-old boy from a small English town who is accused of and arrested for the murder of Katie Leonard, a fellow school student.

Created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne and produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, Adolescence wrapped its story quite nicely — with some implied consequences — but the team is reportedly looking into continuing the momentum with a second season. Below, find out everything we know about Adolescence season 2.

At the time of writing, Adolescence season 2 is not confirmed. Not only that but as mentioned above, the show was released as a limited series, meaning it was not intended to continue past its first season.

That said, given the unprecedented success of the show, Deadline reported that Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are in preliminary talks with the director of the show, Philip Barantini, to plan the “next iteration” of Adolescence. Kleiner also shared they want series creators Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne back on board for whatever’s next.

Gardner said the team is talking internally about how to “widen the aperture” and “stay true to its DNA” without being “repetitive.”

In short, yes. It wouldn’t be the first time a limited series is brought back as a seasoned show. The White Lotus had a similar fate. Netflix has previously also done the same with other hits such as Squid Game and Beef after seeing high viewership numbers and critical acclaim — and Adolescence has both of those.

The crew of Adolescence seems aware of this possibility. Speaking to Variety, creator Stephen Graham, who also plays Miller’s father on the show, said: “Let’s see how the figures are. But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.”

Gardner’s words about avoiding repetition suggest Adolescence season 2 might take a more anthological approach, potentially tackling various social issues related to teens in the UK or even perhaps a different POV or continuation of Miller’s story. What we know for sure is that we won’t be turning back in time.

“A prequel to Adolescence, that’s certainly not going to happen,” Hannah Walters — Graham’s wife, producing partner, and costar — told Variety. “But there’s so much mileage in the one-shot and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else. But yeah, everything’s looking good … everyone’s happy, shall we say?”

Speaking to Tudum, Graham said: “One of our aims was to ask, ‘What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?’ And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over.” So, stay tuned!
