Bridgerton and A Teacher are reigning supreme at their respective streaming services.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced in a blog post that Bridgerton, the hit period drama that was recently renewed for season 2, has become the streaming service’s “biggest show ever.”

Meanwhile, Hulu revealed that A Teacher, which stars Kate Mara and Nick Robinson as a teacher and student engaged in a predatory relationship, ranked as the most-watched FX on Hulu series.

Netflix said that Bridgerton was watched by a record 82 million households globally (and counting) since it began streaming on Christmas Day. The show, produced by Shonda Rhimes, made the top 10 in every country except Japan and hit number one in 83 countries including the United States, the streaming service said.

Regé-Jean Page, who stars as the sexy, slightly scandalous Duke of Hastings, reacted to the news on Twitter, writing, “82 MILLION. With love from all of us to all of you 🙏🏽❤️💫#BRIDGERTON.”

Based on the popular books by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton season 1 follows the esteemed families of British high society and their romantic pursuits through the lens of a mysterious gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews).

Also on Wednesday, Hulu announced that A Teacher surpassed Mrs. America and Devs as the most-watched show on FX on Hulu, though the streamer did not share any actual viewing figures.

The 10-episode series, created by Hannah Fidell based on her 2013 film of the same name, also attracted the most new subscribers to Hulu of any FX on Hulu exclusive series, the streaming service said.

During five weeks of its eight week run, the series ranked as the number one show on Hulu.

Mara, who plays Claire Wilson, a married English who grooms and manipulates high school student Eric Walker (Robinson), in A Teacher, recently said that the show will not return for a second season.

“I have heard a lot of people who love the show ask that question, ‘When is season 2?’ It makes me laugh just because, no, to be honest, there hasn’t been and there was never really any discussion about more seasons,” she told The Wrap.
