Guthrie was set to fly to Italy on Monday for coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
But she was blindsided by the call telling her that her mom was missing.
It was “the worst phone call of her life,” an NBC producer who knows Guthrie told CNN.
The outlet reported Guthrie will no longer host the opening ceremony for the 2026 Games.
