To celebrate the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman releases a new throwback image to the original Marvel Cinematic Universe announcement he and Ryan Reynolds shot two years ago. While the MCU timeline had only one film coming out of Marvel Studios in 2024, it has already become the biggest hit in Phase 5. Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought Jackman and Reynolds into the franchise, served as a tribute to the Fox-Marvel era while also becoming the first R-rated Marvel Studios film.

As of this weekend, Deadpool & Wolverine have grossed over $800 million dollars at the worldwide box office, and they are closing in on the $1 billion dollar mark. To honor this, Jackman took to Instagram to share a special memory of him and Reynolds when they made the official announcement in 2022.

July was a terrific month for Marvel Studios as Deadpool & Wolverine had an incredibly strong box office opening weekend. The Deadpool & Wolverine cast also got their time to shine at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where they screened the movie to the Hall H crowd.

Is Hugh Jackman Done As Wolverine Or Will He Be Back?

The ending of Deadpool & Wolverine, where the new Logan variant is now staying behind on Earth-10005, leaves the door wide open for a potential return. At the time of this story’s publication, Marvel Studios and Jackman have not announced any further plans for more Wolverine appearances. However, anyone who followed Jackman throughout the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour can easily tell that there are more ideas in the works.

It would be weird after all the Marvel cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, which included ties to the MCU, that Jackman wouldn’t be back as Logan at least once or twice. With the ending of Phase 6 of The Multiverse Saga being rumored to serve as a soft reboot for the MCU, the next few years may be the last time Jackman can appear as Wolverine. If a new actor is being eyed to take over as Wolverine for the MCU’s main timeline, having Jackman in Phase 6 would be a proper conclusion.

Since Phase 6 will have Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Warsit would be great to see Jackman’s Wolverine finally get to meet the Avengers as they get ready for their ultimate multiverse adventure. With the amount of Marvel multiverse crossovers that could happen in the next Avengers films, there are so many great interactions that Jackman could have in Phase 6. Hopefully, more news will emerge about Jackman’s return to the MCU later in the year, following his great appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
