The hit animated sequel Despicable Me 4 is coming exclusively to digital platforms for rent or purchase starting on Aug. 6. The release even comes with two exclusive Mini-Movies featuring the Minions.

Ahead of the PVOD debut of Despicable Me 4, CBR can provide a sneak peek at one of the new Mini-Movies with an exclusive clip. It reveals a Minion video game session going awry when a controller breaks, leading one to look for a replacement in Gru’s lab. A new controller is found, but it works in unexpected ways, turning reality into a video game. The clip can be watched below.

The PVOD release of Despicable Me 4 comes with two never-before-seen Minion Mini-Movies, dubbed “Benny’s Birthday” and “Game Over and Over,” only when purchased from participating retailers including Amazon, Apple, Fandango at Home, Comcast Xfinity, Cox, and Verizon.

In “Benny’s Birthday,” per Universal, “Benny finds himself trapped in a time loop of a Minion-style birthday party, encountering uproarious mischief at every turn.” As for “Game Over and Over,” the description reads, “After stumbling upon a powered-up game controller inside Gru’s lair, the mischievous Minions discover its ability to control one another, unleashing mayhem as they compete for high scores.”

The official synopsis for Despicable Me 4 reads, “The world’s favorite supervillain-turned-Anti-Villain-League-agent returns for a bold new era of Minions mayhem in Illumination’s Despicable Me 4, now with 2 Mini-Movies. The animated sequel is directed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage. Despicable Me is the first animated franchise ever to cross the $5 billion mark. The newest sequel was released in theaters on July 3 and has since gone on to earn more than $752 million worldwide, making Despicable Me 4 a huge success. It is currently the third highest-grossing film of the year.

Despicable Me 4 will be available exclusively on digital platforms to own or rent starting on Aug. 6, 2024.
