Luckily, the actor starred in a movie that is really hilarious.
Whether comedies are dead or not, there is no doubt that Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s new romcom is far from perfect. It’s proved by its shameful critical score of 39% on Rotten Tomatoes; however, it is still topping Netflix ’s global chart.
Criticized for poor screenwriting and even its PG-13 rating, A Family Affair doesn’t offer you any spice. Luckily, Efron has a far more worth-watching comedy in his portfolio. It has been unfairly forgotten since 2014, so let’s do this hidden treasure justice!
The plot of this movie revolves around Mac and Kelly, a couple who have just become parents. They move to the suburbs with their infant daughter, only to realize they’ve chosen quite a questionable place to settle down.
The neighborhood is inhabited by the fierce college students and the notorious members of Delta Psi Beta, a fraternity that hosts outrageous parties. The parents are about to wage war against those who disturb their daughter’s sleep.

You can absolutely expect tons of jokes related to parenthood, college and party life and, of course, the very rivalry between these incompatible worlds. All of this with an R rating? Sign us up!
Besides, the cast does a pretty good job delivering the well-timed humor. Efron, known as the star of 17 Again (2009), is no stranger to comedies at all, and he is truly perfect playing the head of the fraternity who puts a spoke in the wheels of the protagonists.

The parents are played by Seth Rogen ( Knocked Up, Superbad) and Rose Byrne (the Insidious franchise), and the actress’ hidden comedy talent shines really bright here.
Titled Neighbors, this 73%-rated film is praised for being a perfect adult comedy that knows its audience. It isn’t afraid to put some extra spice to its jokes and doesn’t forget about the character development and good acting.
“Rogen and Byrne make a hilarious on-screen couple and it’s made me excited to see Efron in more comedies to come,” concludes Redditor BatCountry9.
While Efron’s new comedy is in fact disappointing, it’d be better to check out his gem from the 2010s, as Neighbors is now available for streaming on Prime.
