Stranger Things season 5 will be available on Netflix in 2025, and since season 4 wrapped in the summer of 2024, there’s been plenty of time for fans to get curious about how the popular series will say goodbye. Considering that even the Stranger Things season 4 poster was cool, there’s no doubt that the fifth and final season will impress viewers.

Although characters like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) are of course fascinating, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) is a fan favorite who some feel hasn’t gotten as many great storylines as he could. While of course the Stranger Things cast members can’t say much about the upcoming episodes, Noah Schnapp did mention the final season briefly. Noah Schnapp’s commentsabout Stranger Things season 5 could suggest what fans can expect from the character’s final arc.

Noah Schnapp’s Stranger Things Season 5 Comments Could Suggest Will’s Plotline

In a January 2023 interview with Forbes, Noah Schnapp made positive comments about Stranger Things season 5. He said:

“I can just tell you that I’m very very excited for what’s to come. I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect – the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.”

Based on these comments, it seems Will will have a main storyline in Stranger Things season 5. Will has a fascinating and scary timeline in Stranger Things and viewers are definitely ready to see more of him.

While fans can only guess at this point since there are no story details available and it will be a while before the fifth season streams on Netflix, it’s possible to make two guesses. One is that Will could play a key role in stopping the creatures of the Upside Down from ruining Hawkins. Another guess is that Will’s love life could be a focal point of Stranger Things season 5.

These two plotlines seem possible because of what has been building up until Stranger Things season 5. Will would be a satisfying character to battle Vecna since he was the first character to be pulled into the horrifying Upside Down. He has been through so much and has experienced so many different emotions, from fear to anxiety. Since Will developed feelings for Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), fans have been cheering him on and hoping he will have a happy ending.

Fans are looking forward to seeing Will’s storyline in Stranger Things season 5. Redditor @maxvsthegames wrote:

“Will is definitely the most underused character of the show. He’s the most interesting one (next to Eleven) and only shined in Season 2, relegated to a background character in the next two seasons. Really happy to know he’ll get center stage in the last season!”

What Happened To Will In Stranger Things Seasons 1-4?

Will has one of the most terrifying character arcs in all of Stranger ThingsWill ends up in the Upside Down in the Stranger Things pilot and thankfully comes home by the end of the season. When he coughs in the bathroom and realizes there’s a slug in the sink, he knows that he’s still at risk and that no one in Hawkins is truly safe.

In season 2, Will keeps having visions of the Upside Down, and he feels that his friends can’t truly understand what he has experienced. Will doesn’t have much of a storyline in Stranger Things season 3, although he has a special connection to the Mind Flayer because of his past. However, by the end of Stranger Things season 4, Will has finally gotten more attention. He and Mike have bonded again after going through a tough time in their friendship. After a period of distance, Will feels more connected to his friend group.

While Stranger Things season 5 is sure to bring even more unnerving monsters, it will also hopefully feature a great storyline where Will gets to be the center of attention. The character is kind, smart, and compelling, and he deserves it.
