Miller’s character was first introduced in Deadpool (2016), where he portrayed the titular character’s best friend and sidekick. Weasel’s journey continues in the second chapter of the movie, where he becomes part of Deadpool’s team.
Why TJ Miller is not returning in Deadpool & Wolverine?
TJ Miller will not reprise his role in Deadpool & Wolverine. Previously, it was reported that there were issues between Ryan Reynolds and Miller on the sets of Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Miller stated on The Adam Carolla Show that he believes that Reynolds dislikes or even “hates” him. Further, he also expressed his disinterest in doing Deadpool 3.
Miller’s absence from the sequel is also likely related to his involvement in a sexual assault scandal.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement in 2017, a woman from Miller’s college years at George Washington University allegedly accused him of sexually assaulting her. In an interview with the Daily Beast, she revealed that during their intimate encounter, he did a lot of things to her without her consent.
She said, “He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop… I couldn’t say anything.” Additionally, it was also reported that he shook her violently and even punched her.
Following the surfaced allegations, Miller addressed the claims and denied them all.
“Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again. It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators,” he said.
As per Deadline, Miller was also charged with making a “false 911 call” in 2018, though the charges were later dropped. In the wake of the scandals, Miller has had a lower profile in Hollywood and hasn’t appeared in any movies or TV shows since 2020.
