There’s someone (or even sometwo) from Game of Thrones who was both alive and active during the events of House of the Dragon.
Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are separated by over 180 years of in-world history, so there seemingly can’t be any intersections between the two — other than historical references to HotD’s events in Game of Thrones, of course.
But what if we told you that at least one GoT character (or even two, for that matter) can technically join the prequel’s cast completely justified by lore reasons?
Let’s Add Some Red to Black and Green
In a world where ancient magic and gods exist, nothing is impossible. While most people in Westeros and Essos have rather short life spans, there are chosen ones who can live for centuries — especially, if they’re rather intimate with said gods. And there’s one god who we know for a fact grants his most devout followers life force.
R’hllor, also known as the Lord of Light.
Melisandre aka the Red Woman or the Red Witch was the Lord of Light’s devoted priestess, and it was revealed late in Game of Thrones that she was actually over 400 years old. This means that during the events of House of the Dragon, Melisandre was not only alive but also active for over 200 years, already powerful and immortal. She could have an interesting and lore-accurate cameo in HotD.
Immortality Isn’t Just R’hllor’s Gift
While Melisandre is 100% able to make an appearance in House of the Dragon, her favorite Lord of Light isn’t the only god capable of manipulating life and death. The Many-Faced God or, as referred to by the common folk, Death, also granted his servants immense powers — and we don’t quite comprehend their limitations.
While The Faceless Men could swap faces and take lives easily, their master quite literally had power over life and death themselves, and he could in theory reward his best assassins with extended lifespans at the expense of someone else’s lives. This speculation leads us to cautiously believe that Jaqen H’ghar, too, could technically be already alive during the events of House of the Dragon and have a cameo.
