WEDNESDAY SEASON 3 — A NEW ADDAMS IS COMING! Netflix just confirmed that the next chapter of Wednesday will introduce a never-before-seen member of the Addams Family, and fans are losing it!

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is set to face her most twisted mystery yet — one that could rewrite everything we thought we knew about her eerie lineage. This new character is rumored to be as dark as Wednesday herself… maybe even darker.

With production moving full speed and whispers of a major release date reveal coming soon, one thing’s certain — Wednesday Season 3 isn’t just expanding the family… it’s about to shake it to the core.

Wednesday Season 3 To Introduce Never-Before-Seen Addams Family Member

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday in season 2's gala episode

A missing Addams Family member may finally appear in Wednesday season 3. Wednesday season 3’s story was confirmed by Netflix even before season 2, part 1 was released in July 2025, promising more adventures in the halls of Nevermore. After the ending of Wednesday season 2, part 2, these adventures are expected to be darker than ever.

A big mystery in season 2 concerned Wednesday‘s Ophelia Frump, the titular character’s aunt, who was thought to be dead. Ophelia was said to have similar Addams Family powers to Wednesday herself, such as psychic visions and the issues that came with them. In Wednesday season 2’s final episode, it was revealed that Ophelia was alive and locked in Grandmama Frump’s basement.

With Wednesday season 3 set to delve even deeper into the Addams Family tree, Ophelia may not only be the hidden member of the eccentric group to be introduced. Finally, a long-hidden, never-before-seen member of the Addams Family could be introduced.

Wednesday Season 2 Set Up Season 3 To Finally Introduce Morticia’s Father

Morticia Addams

Throughout Wednesday season 2, many references were made to Morticia’s father, Grandmama Hester Frump’s husband. One of these major references came via Lady Gaga’s Wednesday cameo as Rosaline Rotwood, the former Nevermore psychic teacher who taught Hester herself.

Rosaline made an offhanded reference to Morticia’s father, with Hester later doing the same in Wednesday season 2. This is interesting as, in the original Addams Family movies of the 1990s, Morticia’s father never appeared. Of course, he has been absent from Wednesday thus far, too, and only appeared in the recent animated movie via a seance.

Therefore, these mysterious references to Grandpa Frump could finally set up his appearance in Wednesday season 3. If the character is still alive, he could appear in the story, especially given the inclusion of Ophelia. Wednesday season 3 is set to deal much more with the Addams/Frump family, meaning it makes sense for the father of season 3’s apparent villain to have a role.

Even if the character is dead by the time of Wednesday‘s story, Grandpa Frump could appear in flashbacks or via psychic visions brought on by Wednesday, Morticia, Hester, or Ophelia. Either way, it seems as though Wednesday season 3 is the perfect place to introduce a long-missing member of the Addams Family.

Wednesday Season 3 Can Add Another Layer To The Show’s Flashback Tradition

Wednesday Netflix Young Morticia Gomez Addams Flashbacks

If Wednesday season 3 does include Grandpa Frump via flashbacks, it would continue the tradition the show has set in the first two seasons. Both Wednesday season 1 and season 2 contained major flashbacks to Morticia and Gomez’s time at Nevermore, with both tying massively to Wednesday’s present-day plots.

If, as expected, Wednesday season 3 focuses more on Hester, Morticia, and Ophelia, the story could flashback to another generation of Nevermore students. It would be endlessly interesting to see what the school was like when Hester, her husband, and Rosaline were part of its classrooms.

This would also allow Gomez’s parents to be shown, delving ever deeper into the extensive history of Wednesday’s kooky ancestors. Not only would this flesh out the world and characters of Wednesday, but it would continue the show’s flashback tradition more deeply, all while providing essential backstory for Hester and her husband, the mysterious missing Addams Family member.
