WEDNESDAY SEASON 2 REVEAL  — A cast member just confirmed the new villain isn’t a stranger at all but has a deep connection to the Addams family This twist could rewrite everything we thought we knew about Wednesday’s dark legacy…

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday looking intrigued in Wednesday season 1

Wednesday season 2 is fast approaching, and the actor playing a character who will get more attention this year has teased yet another mystery to be unraveled. Wednesday season 1 was a massive success for Netflix, starring the singular Jenna Ortega in the role of the iconic Addams Family daughter. Heading into Wednesday season 2, Wednesday is set to be dealing with more complicated alliances and rivalries among the staff and faculty of Nevermore. Additionally, her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), will be joining Nevermore’s student body, as revealed in Wednesday season 2’s first trailer.

Speaking with ScreenRant‘s Tatiana Hullender, Isaac Ordonez revealed that “Pugsley has a very deep connection with the main villain. Who this villain could be is still a mystery, although many A-listers are joining the show for season 2 and could be playing this character. Check out Ordonez’s comments below:

EXCLUSIVE: ScreenRant: Other than Wednesday, are there any relationships for Pusgley that you’re excited for fans to see?

Isaac Ordonez: My powers and the main villain for this season are connected. Pugsley has a very deep connection with the main villain. There’s something I do with my powers [that connects us], I think I can say that. They really dive into their connection and their story together.

I definitely have quite a bit of screen time with Eugene this season, and then one other new character that we get to see.

What Isaac Ordonez’s Pugsley Tease Means For Wednesday Season 2

In the marketing, it is revealed that Pugsley has the ability to generate electricity, as he is shown wielding sparks. Right away, die-hard Addams Family fans wouldn’t associate this with a mystery villain, as Pugsley’s electrical powers call back to Uncle Fester’s (Fred Armisen) same ability in previous adaptations of the characters. Ordonez says that “something [Pugsley does] with [his] powers” is what connects him to the villain, provoking more intrigue.

Perhaps Pugsley accidentally enables the villain’s plans or the villain is drawn to him because of how they could use Pugsley’s powers. However, what is interesting is that this tease seemingly sets up a parallel with season 1. Wednesday genuinely liked Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci), season 1’s villain; now Wednesday isn’t likely to be fooled again. But she could be unable to stop a more naive Pugsley from bonding with another villain in hiding, again fostering the theme of similar experiences between the heroes and villains.

Our Take On Pugsley’s Connection To The Villain In Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday Will Do Anything To Protect Her Brother, Who May Relate To The Villain

Wednesday is the more experienced detective and heroine in this new season, which is why it is the perfect time to bring Pugsley on board, someone she is fiercely protective of. Pugsley becoming friends with Eugene (Mossa Mostafa) would only exacerbate things for Wednesday, as she has gone out of her way to protect the passionate beekeeper as well. Wednesday season 1 sees Wednesday opening herself up, admitting that she likes being at Nevermore and genuinely cares for her new friends.

However, while Enid (Emma Myers) and Bianca (Joy Sunday) are self-sufficient and can fight off threats themselves, Wednesday‘s sophomore season could delve further into themes of the potential pain in forming close relationships if Wednesday feels like she always has to protect others. Pugsley is the crux of this, as he isn’t a friendship she can just drop — he is her brother. And her brother becoming entangled with the villain could be Wednesday’s worst nightmare in the more horror-driven season 2.
