Mauricio Sulaiman placed the Gypsy King below Anthony Joshua

Anthony “AJ” Joshua is officially the best British heavyweight according to the WBC, as they explain why the loss to Oleksandr Usyk dropped the Gypsy King below the man with three losses on his record.
AJ and Tyson Fury have long fought for the status of the greatest British heavyweight of the modern era and were briefly on the cusp of an undisputed title bout between 2020-2021 before Joshua lost his belts to Usyk in London.

They then rematched and Joshua lost again, leaving his career in a delicate state and now after rebuilding it, he’s considered one of the best by the WBC again, even above Fury after the latter was recently beaten by Usyk too.
“Tyson Fury in the previous rankings was the WBC heavyweight champion,” WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman said to TalkSport. “And Anthony Joshua has been the No.1 contender in the WBC rankings for several months.

“He has had two fights with knockout wins (Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou) and Tyson Fury was placed as No.2 by the ratings committee after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Champions do not always drop to No.1 in the rankings.”
Despite almost being stopped by the Ukrainian in the ninth round of their fight at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia on May 18, Fury insists he felt he won the bout. The ex-WBC champion will now begin preparing for their rematch on December 21, also in Riyadh.
Will we see Joshua-Usyk 3?
With Joshua being ranked as the number one by the WBC, one rung below the champion, will we see a trilogy bout between the 34-year-old and the undisputed boxing king of the current day?
According to the boxing board, being ranked as the next best opponent isn’t a guarantee to become the mandatory challenger for the belt so there is no obligation for Usyk to face the 2012 Olympic gold medalist again at the moment.
“We do not have a mandatory contender at this moment,” Sulaiman added. “The WBC has the absolute authority to appoint a mandatory contender when they win a final eliminator bout or when they go through a process and get voted to be a mandatory contender.”
