Victoria Beckham is shedding light on why she decided to remove her breast implants.

In a new interview with The Sun, published Friday, Oct. 10, Beckahm, 51, opened up about the decision and revealed who was behind it.

“I don’t know where those boobs went, but they went. It was definitely working with Roland [Mouret] that did it. He’s so great and I wouldn’t have a career if it wasn’t for him,” the pop-star-turned-fashion-designer said.

“It came from a need to be taken more seriously and me not knowing who I was,” Beckahm continued. “And so I think it was Roland that encouraged me to just be me — not feel I had to be that person. To just tone it down.”

The former Spice Girl added that this then allowed her to “show myself through [her fashion] collections.”

Beckahm launched her eponymous fashion label in 2008, and in her new Netflix docuseries, also titled Victoria Beckham, she credits French fashion designer Mouret with helping her transition from music into the fashion industry.

“Roland saw something, I don’t know what, but we connected, and he believed in me,” Beckahm said during a confessional in her doc. “He was very very honest, and he was really tough. He didn’t care if I liked what he said or not; he just said it.”

Elsewhere in her interview with The Sun, she also reflected on her fashion choices in the ‘90s and early 2000s.

“I’ve spent such a long time after the Spice Girls searching for my purpose, and I didn’t know what it was,” she continued. “So, I suppose that’s why I dressed in that way. There were a lot of hair extensions, tight tops, and fake tan, although I still do fake tan.”

In her Netflix docuseries, Beckham also looks back on her style, particularly how she dressed during the 2006 World Cup in Germany when all eyes were on the England team’s WAGs (wives and girlfriends).

Victoria Beckham speaking in her Netflix docuseries ‘Victoria Beckham’ “Look, it was fun,” she said in the docuseries. “I had big boobs. I had big hair. Us ladies were shopping and we were owning it. I remember seeing one of these wives that had bought so many designer clothes and had so many bags that she couldn’t get in the revolving doors at the hotel.”

“It was at a time when I didn’t feel creatively fulfilled, so it’s how I stayed in the conversation,” she added.

The docuseries pulls back the curtain on Beckahm’s life and her fashion line, with the three episodes being filmed in the run-up to the star pulling off her biggest ever fashion show at Paris Fashion Week in 2024.
