Woman Recounts Miraculous Escape from Death in India Plane Crash
A woman who narrowly escaped death in a plane crash in India shared her incredible story of survival. The incident occurred when a plane carrying 191 passengers skidded off the runway and broke into two pieces at Kozhikode airport, Kerala, India, on August 7, 2020.
According to the survivor, 36-year-old Deepika, she was on Air India Express flight IX-1344, returning from Dubai to Kozhikode. The plane encountered heavy rain during landing, causing it to skid off the runway, crash into a wall, and split into two. Deepika described the terrifying moment: “I heard a loud bang, and then everything went dark. I thought it was the end.”
Deepika was seated in the middle section of the plane, which remained relatively intact after the crash. She sustained only minor injuries, which she considered a miracle. “I don’t know how I survived. I saw many people around me seriously injured or motionless,” she recounted emotionally.
The crash claimed 21 lives, including both pilots, and injured over 150 others. Deepika said she was grateful to the rescue teams who quickly arrived and saved her life. “I could hear the screams and cries around me, but the rescue workers pulled me out and took me to safety,” she said.
Deepika also mentioned that the experience changed her perspective on life. “I feel like I’ve been given a second chance. Every day now feels like a gift,” she shared.
The investigation into the crash later revealed that heavy rain and strong winds were the main contributing factors. The incident raised concerns about safety measures at airports during adverse weather conditions.
Deepika’s story is a testament to human resilience and the unpredictability of life, leaving a deep impression on those who hear it.
