The Marvel Cinematic Universe may not have seen the last of Blake Lively’s Lady Deadpool after the character was introduced in Deadpool & Wolverine. Phase 5 is currently enjoying its biggest success to date, as Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in theaters and already becoming one of the biggest hits in 2024. As there were plenty of Easter eggs and references in Deadpool & Wolverine pulling from the Marvel lore, there were also multiple cameos that drew from prior movies, many of which have generated much audience excitement.

One of them was none other than Lively, who made her MCU debut as Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. In an extensive interview with VarietyDeadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy was asked how important it was to Ryan Reynolds to have his wife and their kids make cameos in the Phase 5 installment. According to Levy, they were always “available and always nearby,” which made it easier to get them in for their cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, sharing the following:

It just honestly was that they were available and always nearby. A lot of times, we would call people into our edit room and have them record something. Little by little, all of the Reynoldses started being a part of the movie, including their youngest. As the proud godfather of Olin, that might be my favorite voice cameo.

When asked if there were ever any plans to have Lively’s Lady Deadpool unmask herself, Levy made it clear that there were no discussions of that, though he stated “there’s always the future.” However, when asked if what he just revealed was a teaser, Levy confirmed there were no current plans for future appearances after the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine, stating:

We never discussed taking off her mask. So there’s always the future. It’s definitely not a promise. [When asked if that is a teaser.] We also wanted this to be a standalone movie that leaves everything possible but serves no next movie. It is not a setup to anything, so we’ll see what happens.

Where Could Blake Lively’s Lady Deadpool Appear Next In The MCU?

Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) smirks with red hair in A Simple Favor.

Even though she doesn’t appear at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, Lady Deadpool was last seen alive alongside the many members of the Deadpool Corps. The natural option for Lively’s Lady Deadpool is to return for a Deadpool 4 movie if Marvel Studios ends up greenlighting a sequel. However, despite the Phase 5 film’s box office and critical success, it has yet to be determined if Deadpool 4 is even going to happen.

If Marvel Studios wanted to bring Lively back as Lady Deadpool outside the Deadpool films, it would be fascinating to see her maybe come together with other MCU heroines. As there has always been interest expressed by many MCU actresses about finally getting an A-Force movie, adding Lively’s Lady Deadpool into the mix could lead to some incredibly funny, but also different dynamics. It would be even more comedic if Lively were to unmask herself as Lady Deadpool in a film without Wade Wilson, as the Merc with a Mouth would never get to see what his female variant looks like in another universe.

Though the MCU audience only got a taste of her as Lady Deadpool, it was great to see Lively be brought into the Deadpool franchise. Even if it doesn’t happen in the rest of The Multiverse Saga, Lively could always be featured again as Lady Deadpool in Phase 7 and beyond. Hopefully, Deadpool & Wolverine will not be the last time the world gets to enjoy Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool.
