Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow finally gives the Girl of Steel her own solo film for the first time in over forty years. Milly Alcock is set to star in the upcoming film, bringing to life the live-action latest rendition of Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl. Woman of Tomorrow introduces Supergirl to a much larger universe in James Gunn’s DCU, a wide and sprawling franchise that aims to push DC characters into the mainstream in the same way that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has. If successful, Alcock’s superhero could become one of the primary faces of the DCU moving forward, putting even more pressure on the up-and-coming actress to excel in the role.
Milly Alcock beat out scores of other talented actresses for the role of Supergirl in the DCU, including Meg Donnelly, who voiced the character in several animated projects. The House of the Dragon star has James Gunn’s full support, but it has yet to be seen how DC fans will respond to the latest Supergirl actress. However, fans curious to see Alcock’s acting chops need look no further than her latest Netflix project, which reveals everything audiences need to know about her and the kind of Supergirl she will be.
Milly Alcock Shines in Netflix’s Sirens
Netflix’s Latest Miniseries Is an Excellent Display of Milly Alcock’s Acting Abilities

Sirens is Netflix’s latest hit original series based on the play Elemeno Pea by Molly Smith Metzler. The series follows Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahey), who has grown very concerned for her younger sister, Simone (Milly Alcock), who resides at a high-class beach retreat, where she works as the personal assistant to ethereal billionaire Kiki Kell (Julianne Moore). Devon travels to the beachside resort, where she hopes to break through to her sister, who has become overly obsessed with appeasing Kiki and remaining in her good favor. Much to Devon’s chagrin, however, she finds that life on the Kell estate is far more cult-like than she had anticipated. Even worse, Simone is more deeply entrenched than she appeared, strongly resisting any show of help from her sister. Things unravel across five episodes as the dark comedy explores the extremely toxic relationship between Simone and Kiki, as well as Devon’s fruitless attempts to sway her sister back to the side of reason.

Alcock has a history of leaving a major impression on audiences with her work, even when her screen time is limited. The Australian actress is fondly remembered for her roles in television series like Upright and A Place to Call Home. However, she has also taken the time to hone her craft on stage, appearing in adaptations of such classic shows as The Crucible in the ever-complicated role of Abigail Williams. With an already rather impressive career at such a young age, there is little doubt that Alcock will make the role of Supergirl her own.
When Will We Meet Milly Alcock’s Supergirl?
Supergirl May Appear Sooner Than Fans Think

Milly Alcock is set to appear as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which recently finished filming and is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. While this film will explore Kara’s origins, including the destruction of Krypton and her long, delayed journey to Earth, it may not be the first time that audiences meet Alcock’s DC character. It seems likely that Alcock will first appear in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, which hits theaters this summer on July 11. Alcock was one of the first actors signed on to join the DCU, with Supergirl auditions taking place before Woman of Tomorrow was officially in production. This is an anomaly for Gunn, who has been vocal about leaving important casting decisions to the directors of specific projects. Alcock’s early casting suggests that she will appear in Superman, even if it is only for a brief cameo therein.
