William & Kate Reportedly Snubbing Charles’ Christmas Invite Amid ‘Icy Moments’ & ‘Nonstop Disagreements’—It’s Been an ‘Extremely Difficult Year’ King Charles Responds to Prince William, Kate Middleton Conspiracy Theories

The thing about the royals is that people are always interested in their lives, scandals or not. Perhaps it’s this idea of royalty as celebrities. Maybe it’s that they have just given us a lot of drama throughout the years. But the point remains, people want to know things like: Do Prince William and Kate Middleton get along with King Charles? And every time there are new reports that things might not be good, everyone pays attention.

Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop is reporting that Prince William will skip King Charles‘ annual Christmas lunch this year, with William allegedly choosing to do so in the midst of “nonstop disagreements” and “icy moments.” The heir to the throne will instead spend the day with Kate Middleton‘s family.

According to a source, “William and the family will dutifully go to church with big smiles plastered on, but they’re not expected for lunch at the big house. It’s been an extremely difficult year for William and Catherine.”

Perhaps one of the reasons why they won’t be present is that someone else might be. The gossip columnist also reported that the former prince Andrew will be invited, something sources called surprising.

In 2024, reports indicated William and Kate hosted what was described as a “rival” and more “middle class” Christmas at their home, with the gathering even being described as a “coup” against King Charles. A friend told the Daily Beast that “there’s always been a slightly covert, rival Christmas party at [William and Kate’s] house, but it’s going to be much more obvious this year. If they post pictures, it’ll be an official coup attempt.”

The decision feels particularly pointed considering recent reports that King Charles is battling pancreatic cancer and doesn’t have a lot of time left. “The palace is desperately trying to downplay the seriousness of His Majesty’s illness,” a royal insider told RadarOnline.com. “But Charles knows it’s the end, and so do his sons. William is formally making plans for his version of the future of the monarchy – with or without Charles’ blessing – and making his own decisions as king.”

Reportedly, this also played a role in the King’s decision to recently meet with his younger son Harry, and the push for reconciliation between Harry and William. Whether Charles ends up getting his wish about William and Harry or not still remains to be seen, but concerns about his health have not died down.

Rob Shuter’s Substack, alleged recently that Charles is “dying,” and his failing health has been the main reason Prince William has taken on more royal duties. According to the columnist, the King is “seriously unwell but determined to carry on,” with a source adding that, “He’s exhausted, but he won’t stop. “Every morning he insists on reading his red boxes. He believes his service to the country is his calling — and he’ll keep going as long as he can.”

And that includes hosting the Christmas lunch, no matter who shows up.
