Meghan Markle attempted to email her dad, Thomas Markle, in an email that went unseen, while he pleaded with his daughter publicly to make contact with him. Thomas Markle, 81, called for Meghan to see him “one more time before I die” after his leg was reportedly amputated below the knee during surgery.
The Duchess of Sussex reportedly emailed her dad in an attempt to “reach out” but the email went unseen as it was sent to an address he had not used for five years, claims a report in the Telegraph. The two have been estranged since Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
Meghan’s aides, however, have made clear that if he is willing to share a different email address, it will be forwarded on.
Mr Markle told media he was “confused” by reports that she had attempted to reach him, saying he had not changed his number and had received no messages.
It comes as a surgeon says the amputation was a matter of “life and death”. They said: “We had to remove the foot. There was a massive blood clot in his thigh and that had stopped circulation to his foot and lower leg. It was life-or-death surgery. Had the infection in the foot moved to his heart, it would most likely have been fatal. He is doing well but he is not out of the woods yet.”

Brides often aim to have “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” on their big day.
Princess Kate requested that a blue ribbon be discreetly sewn into the interior of her garment.
Blue is believed to symbolise love, purity, and fidelity – it is also thought to ward off bad luck within a marriage.

Royal fans spot glaring error with King Charles’s Christmas card post
Royal fans are complaining King Charles’s Christmas card for 2025 “doesn’t feel very Christmassy” with others questioning why the royal household would use an image clearly taken in the spring. King Charles and Camilla shared a card with the public with an image taken from when they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Rome in April.
One social media user said: “Beautiful pic but it doesn’t feel Christmas. Might I suggest a lovely pic from Windsor or Sandringham when the Christmas lights are lit. Or even taken out front of the St George’s Chapel.”

Andrew scandal may expose just how little royals pay for sprawling mansions
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s departure from the Royal Lodge may lead to revelations over how little the royals pay to live in sprawling mansions.
The disgraced former Prince had been paying a peppercorn rent to live in the 30-bed mansion in Windsor Great Park, after paying £8.5million up-front to cover renovation costs when he took on a 75-year lease in 2003.
However, royal sources suggest that Andrew’s effective eviction and stripping of his titles may have emboldened critics to scrutinise royal finances and determine if they are paying a fair amount towards the Crown Estate, which gives its profits to the Treasury.

The Duchess of Sussex’s holiday programme premiered on Netflix earlier this week, with Meghan Markle making a candid admission about a particular UK tradition at Christmas. Meghan spent two Christmases at Sandringham in 2017 and 2018, and as she welcomes restaurateur Will Guidara, she tells him about her thoughts on ‘With Love, Meghan’.
Meghan told him: “Living in the UK, it’s a big part of the culture for sure. Typically, people cross their arms and do it. So they sit around the table and they all pull at the same time. The way that I started to know them was, they’d always have some sort of fortune cookie-size joke or riddle. And something sweet.”

Prince William ‘to make major change’ to Royal Family Christmas tradition
Christmas in the royal household could run on a far less rigid structure when Prince William becomes King.
It is understood that he will scrap an outdated tradition which involves handing out “joke” £5 presents in strict order of royal seniority.
The game involves the gifts being handed out by King Charles from a table in order of seniority from senior royals to junior royals. Sources say as William continues to take his cues from the more relaxed Middleton family in-laws, traditions like this are expected to be among the first things to go when it’s his turn to reign.
