Variety reports that Cobie Smulders, known for her work in How I Met Your Mother and in the MCU as Maria Hill, has joined the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer. It’s unclear what kind of role she will play, but she will appear alongside newcomers Sasha Alexander (The Morning Show, Shameless) and Constance Zimmer (UnREAL, Entourage). After a jaw-dropping cliffhanger ending to Season 3, fans are anxious to learn about the future of Mickey Haller and his next case. With production starting on The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4, it will be quite a while until the series returns on Netflix. The rest of the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 features Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, Becki Newton as Lorna, Jazz Raycole as Izzy, Angus Sampson as Cisco, Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson, Elliott Gould as David “Legal” Siegel, and Krista Warner as Hayley Haller. Behind the scenes, Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife) and Dailyn Rodriguez (The Night Shift) continue to serve as co-showrunners. What Is ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 4 About?
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 will directly follow up the events of the Season 3 finale and dive straight into Mickey’s next case, which involves him. Co-executive producer and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey told Netflix that viewers will find out what happened to Mickey during his trial, which will take place over the entire season. For obvious reasons, this will be Mickey’s most “personal” case yet, and it’s up to him to figure things out.
Well, the biggest cliff-hanger of all is ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ and that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial. But in the first episode you’ll understand at least the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing. This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on. And of course, our other characters will be dealing not only with Mickey’s case but with a slew of challenges they’re facing as well. As a director, I was so happy with how the third season finale turned out, and I am also directing the opener of Season 4 so it feels like we are picking up right where we left off, which is really fun for me and also creatively very satisfying.”
