On Friday, March 20, 32-year-old Brittany Kritis-Garip went missing around 8 p.m. local time in Oyster Bay, N.Y., according to a Monday, March 23, news release from the Nassau County Police Department.

She was “last seen in Oyster Bay on foot,” authorities added.

Before her disappearance, Kritis-Garip jumped out of a moving car and threw her phone into a bush before running away in a panicked state, her husband, Fernando Garip, said, according to News 12 Long Island.

“We’ve been combing wooded areas, rural areas, suburban areas, everything. So we’re just asking for the public’s help here. We really need the public’s help to locate her,” Garip told the outlet. “We’re going to be at this until she’s home. I don’t care what we have to do, what needs to be done.”

Garip said that people were searching for his wife around the East Norwich-Oyster Bay border.

The Nassau County Police Department also told News 12 that they were using their helicopter and drones to search the location.

A GoFundMe page to help with search efforts has so far raised more than $15,000 out of a $16,000 goal.

“My name is Sarah, and I am a close friend of Brittany Kritis-Garip’s family. I am organizing this fundraiser on their behalf to help support ongoing efforts to find Brittany,” the page organizer wrote in the description.
