Bridgerton star Martins Imhangbe has teased the upcoming finale for the show’s third season, stating that fans will be left “satisfied”.

The Netflix romantic drama returns next week (June 13) with the final four episodes of its third season, with the relationship between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) set to be developed further.

In anticipation of the show’s return, Imhangbe spoke exclusively with Digital Spy to discuss where the rest of the season is headed, teasing that the finale will be “satisfying” and “lovely”.

“I think they will be very, very, satisfied,” said the actor, who plays Will Mondrich. “But also, I think they’re gonna want more. It’s great drama. It’s lovely.”

The star also spoke about where the season will leave Will and his family, saying: “I think it [the finale] will put them [the Mondrich family] in a very high position where they can be of influence. In terms of their relationship and people aspiring to want to be like them but also the responsibility.

“I feel like there’s going to be a sense of responsibility with the new position. So whether that’s how we support our son or how we support others. But I feel like there’s going to be a required sense of responsibility.”

Whilst fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the steamy series, creator Shonda Rhimes recently picked out her ideal leading man from her oeuvre. The producer eventually opted for Regé-Jean Page, who played Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the first season of the show.

“I’m going to have to say the Duke,” she said during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “Not because they’re not all amazing, but because he was such a fantasy fulfilled kind of man. He was perfect, never got to have any real flaws after we got them all together.”

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 and the first part of season 3 are streaming on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Season 3 part 2 premieres on June 13.
