Rylan Clark has opened up about his longing for a family, revealing how he once swore off children until he could afford to stop working. Luckily, the Radio 2 host now feels financially secure enough to support a family.
But while Rylan, 36, hosts the Paramount+ series Dating Naked, he candidly admits he’s currently “very single”. He’s ventured into the world of exclusive dating app Raya but acknowledges it has its flaws.
Speaking the Daily Mail, Rylan aired his frustrations: “It matches you with people who are in LA or Greece. They must think we all have private planes. Sorry, darlin’, I’ve got a full-time job.”
During his online dating adventures, Rylan faced a breach of trust when an ex from the app tried leaking stories to the press. The star confesses that determining whether someone wants to date him for who he is or for his celebrity status as Rylan is a major concern, reports the Manchester Evening News.
He said: “One person I was dating was phoning the press. You have to work out if people want to date you or Rylan. I don’t need someone who works in the industry – they could work for Sainsbury’s – but I need an equal.”

Rylan, who rose to fame on the X Factor, however admits he is ready to have children should he meet the right person. He always insisted there was one key condition he wanted to meet before welcoming a child into the world.
He explained: “I always said I’d have them when I’d got enough money to support them even if I never worked again. And I’ve got it.”

He continued: “I’ve created this almost caricature of what people expect me to be like. I’m very much two people, everyone knows me as Rylan, has a laugh, big teeth, wears a bit of make-up – a lot of make-up – and it’s just that presenter off the telly.
“Whereas at home, I’m Ross. Ross is who I grew up as. Rylan is my job. Ross is the one who sits at home with a tracksuit on and a Peroni in the hand, so, you know, I am very different.”
Rylan further explained that the makeup serves as “an armour” and that “Ross isn’t bruised” if people criticise his persona. The star will be among the celebrities gracing Comic Relief tonight.
Comedians, musicians, and entertainers will come together in an effort to raise funds for worthy causes as Comic Relief celebrates its 40th anniversary. The charity event will be broadcast from 7pm on BBC One.
