“What kind of Intimacy Coordinator says hello each morning by hurling her leathery, 32-inch tongue into your throat?” Reynolds wrote

Ryan Reynolds is paying tribute to his canine costar — with his signature sense of humor.

The Deadpool & Wolverine star shared an Instagram carousel on Monday, Aug. 12, featuring photos of Peggy, the pooch who played Wade Wilson’s four-legged sidekick Dogpool in the new Marvel movie.

“Peggy. Dogpool. Mary Puppins. She goes by many names,” Reynolds, 47, began the post. “She’s obviously a very special cast member.”

Then, his post took a surprising turn.

“What many don’t know, is that she was also the Intimacy Coordinator on #DeadpoolAndWolverine. Which was a complete disaster, start to finish,” he wrote.

“What kind of Intimacy Coordinator says hello each morning by hurling her leathery, 32-inch tongue into your throat and down to the bottom of your stomach?” Reynolds added. “But I think the biggest problem is that she’s a f—ing dog.”

The Canadian actor ended the caption on a sweet note, writing, “But I love this dog almost as much as she loves tasting me. She’s a good girl.”

Peggy, a 5-year-old pug and Chinese crested mix with a protruding tongue, was rescued by a family and earned the title of Britain’s Ugliest Dog in 2023 before finding further fame in the summer blockbuster.

Jules Tottman, Peggy’s trainer for the film, told PEOPLE in July that while the dog was “a little bit nervous” at first, she “just blossomed and bloomed and became Dogpool.”

“She was absolutely brilliant, and she came around so quickly,” she added. “It was just amazing to watch, and she loved every minute of it.”

In the film, the canine character takes a liking to Deadpool (Reynolds) after initially being the companion of a Deadpool variant named Nicepool.

According to Tottman, Reynolds and costar Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) were “pretty smitten” with Peggy.

“She totally had them wrapped around her little paw,” she said.

Peggy wasn’t shy around Reynolds on set, Tottman added.

“All the licking was just the funniest thing,” she said. “I mean, quite often, we had to cut because it was so hilarious. The more confident she got, the more she would get her tongue right in Ryan’s mouth, and he was such a sport. Not once did he complain, and we just had so much fun.”

Deadpool & Wolverine, released in theaters July 26, is now the year’s second-highest-grossing film — behind Pixar’s Inside Out 2 — according to Box Office Mojo.
