Ross Lynch returns to acting and joins ‘Heartland’, Netflix’s new thriller with Jessica Chastain

Ross Lynch is making his acting comeback after years focused on music — and he’s doing it alongside Jessica Chastain in the upcoming Netflix thriller ‘Heartland’.
After conquering stages around the world with his brother as part of The Driver Era, the 29-year-old actor — best known for his role in ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ — returns to his first love: acting. Lynch joins the cast of ‘Heartland’, Netflix’s new mystery thriller featuring a top-tier ensemble.
The film marks his return to the platform and will be only his third acting project since Sabrina ended — and his first in two years. This time, he’ll share the screen with Jessica Chastain, John Hawkes and country singer Carter Faith, already announced, along with new additions Garrett Hedlund, Jennifer Nettles and Ben Dickey.
The story follows Misty Jones (Chastain), a former country music star who comes out of retirement to investigate her niece’s disappearance — a young rising talent. What begins as a personal search soon drags her into the darkest corners of Nashville’s underbelly, where no one is who they seem… not even Misty herself.
The film will be directed by Shana Feste, who previously worked with Hedlund on ‘Country Strong’ (2010), reuniting the duo for a new project that promises to capture the emotional tension and musical depth that defined their earlier collaboration.
With a plot steeped in secrets, music and revelations, ‘Heartland’ is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated thrillers of the season — and marks Ross Lynch’s long-awaited return to the place where millions first fell in love with him: the screen.
