Since hitting Netflix a few years back, Bridgerton has been a colossal sucess that has given Shonda Rhimes another hit. The show has aired two excellent seasons, and with a third seaosn and a spin-off on the way, fans will get plenty of Bridgerton coming their way soon enough.

Phoebe Dynevor has been exceptional on Bridgerton as Daphne, and she’s been able to land some nice paydays for her work. The casting department was wise to get the actress on board, and while she had the chops, she did use a lie to help her land the role of a lifetime.

Let’s see how she pulled it off!

Phoebe Dynevor Is A Solid Performer

Back in 2009, Phoebe Dynevor made her way into the business looking to find mainstream success. That year the 14-year-old Dynevor landed the role of Siobhan on Waterloo Road, and she’s steadily built her career since then.

On TV, Dynevor has landed a number of prominent projects, though not all of them have a massive global following like her biggest hit.

These TV credits include projects like Prisoners’ Wives, Dickensian, Snatch, and Younger.

The actress made her major film debut last year, landing a role in The Colour Room.

“I’ve been doing TV work since I was 14, so going into film was always something I really wanted… It was great just having one script! And one director. And it just feeling a lot more intimate. I think that’s what really excited me about the medium of film, the actress told Harper’s Bazaar.

The actress has done well, and with room to grow, she has a successful future ahead of her. This future will include the third season of a show that has been a global phenomenon since its debut.

Phoebe Dynevor Is A Star On ‘Bridgerton’

In 2020, Bridgerton made its way to Netflix, becoming a phenomenon in the blink of an eye. The show was just what audiences were looking for at the time, and the show’s stars have all upped their standing in Hollywood, and this includes Phoebe Dynevor.

When speaking with Glamour, Dynevor opened up about what she brought to her character, Daphne.

“I really played with the idea of her having anxiety. It was something that connected me to her because I also have anxiety. I wanted to bring everything that was bubbling inside that she couldn’t show. She’s portraying something very different on the outside at all times from what she’s feeling inside. It’s a challenge to be able to express that in a way that obviously no one else can see. It was a lot about the inner workings of what she’s feeling and going through,” she said.

During the show’s two seasons on Netflix, Dynevor has been outstanding. She’s grown as a performer, and she’s as popular as ever, with many looking forward to seeing what she’ll do in season three.

The decision to get Dynevor in the role of Daphne was brilliant, and it was partly made possible with the use of a white lie from the actress.

Phoebe Dynevor Lied About Her Experience

So, what was the lie that Phoebe Dynevor used to get her spot on Bridgerton? While speaking with Glamour, the actress was asked about the horseback riding and dancing lessons that she had for the show. The actress’ answer gave way to the lie she told to help secure the role.

Said Dynevor, “I can dance better than I thought I could! And I’ve always said—I don’t know why—that I didn’t like horses and was scared of them. But in the audition when they asked me, “Have you ridden a horse before?” I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m amazing. I’ve ridden so many horses. I’d be perfect for this role!'”

A lie, sure, but the production team rolled the dice on her, which turned out to be a great decision.

The actress did admit to enjoying the training during her response.

“I actually loved horseback riding by the end of it and would love to get back on a horse as soon as possible, so that was fun. I felt very much ready to enter the marriage market by the time I finished with everything,” she said.

Good on the actress for taking the time to enjoy and appreciate the training she underwent for her performance on the show.

Phoebe Dynevor’s time on Bridgerton was made possible with a lie, but that hasn’t stopped her from proving the casting directors right with her work on camera.
