Hit TV show Outlander is currently it’s last season, much to fans’ dismay. But don’t worry, as one TV fan has made a list of four other shows you can watch to fill the Outlander-shaped hole in your life once it comes to an end.

The first episode of Outlander released in 2014. The show is based on a historical fantasy book series written by Diana Gabaldon, and follows Claire Randall, a 1945 British combat nurse who mysteriously time-travels to 1743 Scotland, while on her second honeymoon with her husband. As she arrives back in time, she meets a dashing Highland warrior and gets drawn into an epic rebellion.

As the show is currently airing its eight and final season, which is due to come to an end on 8 May when the tenth episode of the season is released, many might be already thinking about what show to watch next.

To help, one TV fan named Liv Grace has shared her top tips for shows that have similar themes to Outlander, and that she claims are ‘just as good’.

“Here are shows that you should watch if you loved Outlander,” Liv said at the start of her video, before she jumped into her list.

“Okay, the first one is called Poldark, this is by far the most similar to Outlander that I’ve seen,” she said.

This show is a British historical drama series, based on books by the same name. It follows Ross Poldark, an 18th-century soldier who returns to Cornwall from the American Revolutionary War to find his life in ruins, as his father has died and his sweetheart engaged to his cousin.

It tells the story of Poldark trying to rebuild his life, mine copper, and find new love with a former kitchen maid, despite a complicated love triangle

“This show is so good,” Liv said. “The plot is ten out of ten, it’s a historical romance, definitely watch it.”

It’s currently available to stream on Netflix. The series is also available for purchase via Amazon Prime Video or the Apple TV Store.

“It’s actually good, it’s three episodes, but they’re longer,” Liv explained, saying each episode is ‘like a movie’. “And very similar vibes to Outlander, I was very pleasantly surprised.”

The three episodes are available to stream on Hallmark+ in the USA. It’s currently not as easily available in the UK.

The next show on Liv’s list is The Artful Dodger, which Liv said had just had the second season premiered, much to her delight.

The show acts like as a sequel to Oliver Twist, following a grown-up Jack Dawkins, played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, working as a surgeon in 1850s Australia. It centres on him trying to live an honest life, which is disrupted when his former criminal mentor, Fagin. played by David Thewlis, returns to pull him back into a life of crime

“So good. It’s sort of like a medical historical drama, but there’s romance, there’s drama, there’s everything. Everything that you would want in a show is in this,” Liv said.

The two season of The Artful Dodger is available to stream on Disney+.
